dress question

dress question

This might sound like a stupid question, but I have a little dilema about my dress. I went looking yesterday for the second time and found what I'm sure is THE dress. However, I was not too comfortable with the place I was at and they will not tell me who made the gown nor will they allow pictures to be taken.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I guess if I can't find it anywhere else, I'll have to buy it from there but I'd rather avoid it if possible. I've looked at what seems to be a million designers on line and haven't found it yet.

You have the right to know who makes the dress! If they refuse to tell you, you shouldn't do business with them they are obviously not relible. I would also contact the better business bural (spl) and check out if they have had other complaints and add yous regredless. No dress is worth being taken advanced of.

Do you have any clue about who the designer might be??
What does the dress look like??

Another suggestion is to look on netbride.com or gownfind.com to see if you can atleast find the dress and the designer...then look for other places who carry that designer.

Also look on theknot.com or weddingchannel.com and you can narrow down the type of dress it is and maybe find it that way,

I am very uncomfortable with places who cannot tell you who makes the dress.

Good Luck to you

Re: dress question

I think they'll tell me who makes the dress once I place the order. Which kind of bothers me, I mean I can understand that they need to maintain their business or whatever but I just wasn't comfortable with the place. I asked the woman that was helping me three times who the designer is and she kept saying she doesn't know.

I'll keep looking and hopefully I'll find it elsewhere.

Thanks, I'll check those websites. The dress is strapless, sweetheart neck with beading around the neckline and at the waist forming a v-shape. Right below the waist was 2 box pleats. The rest of the front was plain, the back and train had the same beading as the bodace. I found some pictures in a magazine that is very similar so maybe I'll go back to the first place I went to and try to describe it to them, maybe they'll come up with it. Thanks again for the info

Re: dress question

If she doesn't know then she should be finding out for you, or be looking for a new job! This is why I hate dealing with dress store! They will rob you blind. Don't trust them, they do things like cut the tags of the orginal prices of the dress and add their own, they even cut the size tags off so the dress will be too big or too small forcing you to get alterations. Where is this place? Whats their name? Warn everyone about them, they sound horrible!

I had the same problem. I ended up calling the place and asked to speak with the owner saying I couldn't buy a dress if I didn't know who makes it. I told them it was unethical (and actually illegal according to Bridal bargains) to sell a dress without revealing the designer. I also said I needed to know if the price was reasonable for the designer. You don't want to pay a lot for a designer that doesn't make quality dresses! They finally called me back and told me. Just curious... what place was it?

Oh, this is good info. I'm so glad you were able to get them to tell you who the designer was; good for you! I just tried calling but they're closed for a few days. I'll call them during the week. I'd rather not say what place it was because I don't want to offend anyone who might have got their gown there. I think everyone has different experiences.

Re: dress question

similar thing happened to me in nj and the Owver of the store told me the dress was by a 'private label'... now that's just not fair!

Re: dress question

I wouldn't like that either. Maybe try looking at other shops to find the gown.

They should tell you who the designer is....if not, keep shopping and you will find it.

Re: dress question

If it's within your budget then just buy it. who cares if you find it for $10 cheaper somewhere else.
