Hey ladies, I need your help. I am from Texas, but I live in NY. I want my mom and sister to fly up from TX to go dress shopping with me. I had planned on them coming in June, which would give me a year before the wedding, but with the gas prices going up, the flights are ridiculous for the whole summer!!! They're supposed to get worse the closer it gets. My question is, how long do I really need to order my dress and still have plenty of time for alterations? If I wait until September, will that give me enough time if my date is 6/1/07? Thanks!

Re: Dress question
Most girls say 6-9 months is the norma for a dress to come in. My cousin ordered hers - and they told her 4-6 months. So you should be okay if you order in September.

Re: Dress question
In my experience the past few months, most places have told me that it takes about 8-9 months for your dress to arrive after you have ordered it. So, if you just start looking in September that would be cutting it very close. I heard that after memorial day gas is supposed to let up a little bit in price, but then again I will believe that when I see it.

Re: Dress question
Heres the thing, if you start looking in Sept, you may not definitley find something that weekend. It may take a little while to find something that you really love, maybe you should start looking before but not purchase until they come and see it.
My wedding is July and I plan to start looking in June.
