Hi everyone! So I went out for the first time dress shopping, and clearly indicated a budget when I 'checked in'. Of course, they brought out a dress well over our budget and my mom and I fell in love with it. While they are having a trunk sale for this designer next Friday (and we will be going), we need about 40-50% off, and I'm not sure that's possible. In the meantime, we are going to keep looking, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any similar dresses we should be looking at. Also, what is the typical maximum discount at a trunk show? (I'm thinking 15-20%?)
The designer of this dress is Marina K. The dress comes from Israel. This designer is not sold in many stores around here. In fact, I think it may be just one.

Re: Dress Question
My photos are apparently too large. It is the second dress in 'Collection 2010' on her website. If anyone knows how to make the sizes of the files smaller, please let me know.

Re: Dress Question
I'm in a similar situation...LOVING a particular dress from a designer currently having a trunk show until May 2nd. I was disappointed to learn that if I purchase during the show, it would only save me about 10%. For whatever reason, I was expecting to save a bit more. So now i'm so conflicted since:
1) there is SO much time until my wedding
2) haven't had a chance to see if I can find this dress elsewhere for lower than trunk show price.
Your dress is beautiful! I hope you can find it or something like it. I was looking at a Marina k dress as well and they are hard to find.

Re: Dress Question
A friend of mine recently told me once she found the dress she wanted she had B*urtons order the style# for her at a great discount. Haven't tried this myself but there are a lot of girls on here who are using them for flowers. Worth a try.

Re: Dress Question
I can not see the dress on my computer for some reason but I am sure it is beautiful.
You have plenty of time and I would not rush to spend double your budget. But then again it depends on what your priorities are. For me the dress is not a priority (of course I want to love it and I do I just want not willing to break my budget to do so). If the dress is a priority you may think otherwise.
I have heard of places that give you dresses outside of your price range and I hate that. To be honest I would not get a dress from a place that did that to me. I don't like working with people who play games.
When I went to look at dresses I always told them my budget and I also made it clear that I did not want them to give me any dress that was over my budget.

Re: Dress Question
Thanks for the advice everyone. The woman we worked with there was very nice. I think that she didn't realize the price of the dress and got wrapped up in what I had like and didn't like about the dresses I had already tried on when she pulled this when. She herself was shocked when she saw the price and felt awful. She keeps saying they will work with us, but I can't imagine they can do THAT much. I happen to have a family friend that also works for another branch of this store that may be able to help us with price, but probably not as much as 40-50% either.
However, I do have good news! My mom contacted a custom dress maker today who analyzed the pictures we took (and was amazed they even let us take that many pictures in the store!) She thinks she can custom make the dress for well UNDER my budget. So for those of you in a similar situation, that might be the way to go! Fate kind of brought us to this woman as she is in a storefront that once belonged to my dad, right in our hometown. If I don't see something else that I like better, I think that's the way we will go.

Re: Dress Question
Oh! At first I thought you wanted the name of the place that was custom making the dress. In that case, you can disregard my FM. The store is in Carle Place and they have other locations in Massapequa and in Manhattan. . .well without saying the name, I'm sure you can figure it out from there!

Oh, I'm SURE there are stores that do that purposefully. They figure that by playing to your emotions as a bride finding 'The Dress', they can convince you to spend more than you really wanted to. It's why the whole wedding industry is so lucrative. I refused to try anything on that was over-budget, but I had trouble with that at one place in particular
I'm concerned about this too....I don't know how it works but I plan on asking the price of each dress before stepping into it! LOL
I'm glad you found a way to get your dream dress and I hope it all works out!!

Just so you know, their prices are on the high end. I've been able to find the same dress at a lot cheaper prices..
def get prices when you find the dress and go to a bunch of different stores. they will work with you and i'm in the middle of the process now and already saved $350 and I'm not done yet!!

I was very clear with the consultant that I was dealing with that I did not want to have any dress given to me that was over my budget. I told them that if there was a dress that was more than my budget that they were to tell me before I try it on. I made it clear from the beginning so that there would be no 'mistakes'
