Dress Question!!!! (Repost from BHB)

I contacted a bridal shop and inquired about a discontinued dress. They said that it is possible that I could still order the dress, however, it depends on what the designer has remaining in stock because they won't be making any additional gowns in that style.

I was actually really surprised. I thought that when a dress was discontinued it was impossible to get it, unless if you purchased the sample. But there still seems to be a chance that I could still get it, depending on if the designer has the size/color I want in stock.

Now for my question......

If the designer happens to have the size/color I want, would I get the dress at a discounted price because the dress is discontinued???? If yes, how much of a discount is typical on a discontinued dress (not the store sample, but a gown that is remaining in the designers stock)?

well i mean obviously its up to the bridal store but more importantly its how much they have to pay the designer for it. i have a feeling that the designer drops their price them which would then be passed onto the salon so even if they tell you that there is no discount, i would fight for one.

its not something that is set in stone though that if a dress is discontinued, it will be discounted, ya know

eta: some stores will negotiate with you on regular (nondiscontinued) dresses anywhere from 5-20% off the sticker price so i would say that for a discountinued one, they should give you 10-30% off. but like i said, if they claim to you that they are not paying a discounted price to the designer, then they will say they cant give you a discount be they would be losing out

my dress was discontinued. I had until 2 weeks after the discontinue date to order it in the size and color i wanted, after that, whatever stock was remaining would be available for purchase till it runs out.

Did you receive a discount because the dress was discontinued??
