dress ships to you?

okay - this is strange - I think. I just got called that my dress is in. YAY! BUT - Saks Fifth Avenue is saying that they ship it to me. Isnt' that weird? I kind of thought that they would keep it there. But I guess it's shipping from the manufacturer right? And by shipping to New Jersey I save the tax. Anyway. I made my first fitting for the 20th so I can get it out of my house!!! (nosy FH). I am super excited. It's all starting to come together!!!!! I just wanted to make sure this made sense to you girls!

I got my dress shipped to my house from Jessica McClintock warehouse in CA. I didn't mind this at all, it was acutually much more convenient. Then, I found a seamstress and she kept it for the next 3 months.

Hi Nina!

I saw your post that you bought your dress from Jessica McClintock...

Which style did you choose? Were you happy with the service...ie:Did your dress come in on time? How did you go about finding someone to do alterations?

I saw their catalogue and loved one of the dresses but I was weary of buying the dress and having it altered elsewhere.

Thanks for the help!

I was so happy with the dress! The quality is amazing, and the prices are too! I tried on about 15-20 in the store in Roosevelt Field!! I chose Delilah, strapless, ivory satin with embroidery and a shawl. You can see all of the dresses at www.jessicamcclintock.com too.
The salesperson, Valerie was so helpful. I kept trying on dresses that were not for my body type and she suggested others.
I went to a private seamstress in queens, recommended from this board. So, I spent less than $500 on both alterations and the cost of the gown. I am getting my proofs this week, and as soon as I find access to a scanner I will post.
