Dress shopping

Dress shopping

My mom and I went to Bridal Couture to look for bridal gowns today and they were very pushy and rude!!! I tried on a gown (supposedly all their dresses are made in Italy and France...one of a kind dresses..whatever!) and the woman assisting me told me that I was the only person who tried on this dress and didn't buy it! Like I am really going to buy the first dress I try on. This dress was $8000 but when I put it on I wasn't too impressed with it...She was like 'this is an $8000 dress, how could you not like it. You are the first person not to like it.' I was like Listen lady, I don't care if the dress is $80 or $8000, if I don't like it, I don't like it!! It doesn't impress me and I don't care if it is made in Italy. She also went on to tell me that the girls who buy dresses here have their weddings at the Plaza hotel and the Waldorf. Can anyone say stuck up? Needless to say I have heard so many horror stories with that place and now I know why. I def. won't be going back there.

Edited to add: We also went next door to the Wedding Salon and the service there was excellent!! The woman who assisted me was sooo nice and patient!! She told me to go and look around at other stores too. Her name was Mary and she was sooo nice.

Do a search on Bridal Couture...this story sounds sooo familiar! A few of us have had very similar experiences!

Re: Dress shopping

I had a similar experience, but in a bridal salon in Queens. The owner insisted that she had the best prices (I bought my gown in another salon for less money) and when I tried on this one gown, she told me that this was the gown that I was going to walk down the aisle in. She told me not to look at any more gowns because this was the gown that I was going to buy. Mind you, this gown looked like something my grandmother would sleep in. The owner was shocked that I refused to buy it at that moment - I explained that I wanted my mother, who lives 2 hours away, to see the gown before I buy it. She handed me the phone and told me to call my mother! Talk about pushy! She also suggested that both my mother and I take the next day off from work so that she can see the gown on. I can only conclude from your experience and mine that these bridal salons must be desperate for business and therefore try to intimidate you into buying a gown from their shop!

Oh..I should add. Bridal Couture isn't even allowed to be carrying a lot of the gowns they have!

I heard so many bad things about Bridal Couture. I am glad you told her how you felt.

With all the complaints and customer service problems I am surprised they are not out of business.

Angela, I wish you had told me! I went there for my BF's wedding and got my MOH dress there and I hated them every second! Bridal Couture is absolutely known for their snobbiness and lack of service once you order your dress! Oh! and you can totally get their dresses elsewhere for cheaper!

I ordered my dress from the Wedding Salon of Manhasset and I absolutely love that store. The service and selection are second to none!
