So this weekend I went to lilettes bridal in bellmore and I wasn't too thrilled the consultant told me that it was early to start dress shopping for 2012 that put a little damper on my experience. Do you guys think if is too soon to start shopping for the dress? I mean I am getting married in the first three months of 2012.

Re: Dress shopping
I am so surprised she said that! First of all, she must not work on comission because if she did she would try to sell a dress to someone who is getting married 5 years from now! Anyway - I don't believe it's too soon, I heard it could take up to 9 months to deliver...
I am getting married the day before you and I am starting to shop in March. I would shop earlier but I want to lose a couple pounds first...
Good Luck and don't let anyone put a damper on your planning!

Re: Dress shopping
There are a bunch of girls who have their dresses already. I am going to start going in April (I went to David's bridal but it was more just to see what is out there).
But I do not think it is too early.

Re: Dress shopping
Well I'm in a different position but I already bought mine!
I ordered in June and its still not in yet... so if you figure it could take up to 9 months for a dress to get in, I think right now is a fine time to start looking, even if you don't order quite yet.
Don't let her ruin your experience, have fun trying on lots of dresses and figuring out what style looks good on you.

Re: Dress shopping
I agree w/ the other girls! It is def not too early it is about a year away and it could take you several visits to find one you like, then get alterations, etc. etc. My sisters BFF was married this summer and got her dress 10 mo. before and they almost didn't have it in time she had to pick it up like 4 days before the wedding and she was FREAKING out!!! So don't let her put a damper on your experience!!!

Re: Dress shopping
Definitely not! It could take you awhile before you even find 'the one', plus if they custom make it to your sizing (my designer does this - the hollow-to-hem thing) , then the alterations too.
I went to Paradise Bridals in Patchogue for mine and I love my consultant Stephanie - she is such a sweetheart!!!!!
They carry the Casablanca line which is what I was looking for too~ just in case you are interested in that designer as well.

I'm not going to look until mid-summer and probably won't order my dress until September but my wedding isn't until September '12
It's definitely not too early for you though!

Re: Dress shopping
Hi!
My wedding is May 2012 and I bought my dress November 6th! I went just to look....they had a dress I wanted to see in person and after I called about 15 places, they were the only ones to carry it! Turns out that I hated the dress when I put it on, but then I wanted to keep trying and fell in love!
I don't think it's too early at all! I went to Princess Bridal in Farmingdale and they were great! They are going to have it come in next January and then they will hold it as long as I want-right up to the wedding!
I know how you feel though, after I got engaged last winter I went to Fox Hollow for a bridal tea, and one of the vendors told me it was too early and she turned away to talk to someone else! I was so upset I didn't want to talk to any of the others, my Mom and I left shortly after she said that! Don't let anyone ruin your fun!
Have fun shopping!

Re: Dress shopping
I already ordered and picked up my dress but it is never to early to be looking for a dress. You want plenty of time to look and try on. I can't believe they said that too you.

Re: Dress shopping
definitely agree with the other girls..I already have mine...I feel like I have it early, but hey, I'd rather not miss out on something I love. and it's unpredictable...how many times have you gone out to find a particular thing and it took forever?
have fun and enjoy shopping around :)

Re: Dress shopping
That was a foolish thing for her to say to you. I do not think it is too soon. I would not give them my business.
