I just scheduled my first appointment to go dress shopping next week! I'm heading up to Buffalo and will be going with two of my roommates from college. I don't get to see them often so am SUPPPPER excited. I definitely won't be buying because I want to go shopping with my mom and sisters, but want to get an idea of what shapes and materials look good on me. I'm hoping they don't pressure me and make me feel guilty for not buying. Any tips for first time shoppers?!

Be open minded!! I just said YES to my dress (literally like an hour ago) haha and the dress was not something I would have picked for myself. But I trusted in the lady at the bridal store and am happy I did!

This. The dress I chose I had actually crossed off in the David's Bridal catalog. I thought I wanted lace, but none looked good on me.
Can't post the pic here though because FH is a member too. Wants to learn more about weddings and is helping me by reading what others are doing or going through and asking me my thoughts on things. It's usually stuff we never even considered. He is also making a lot of the calls and narrowed down hotels, made appts for venues and other vendors. I'm so glad he is too because not only would it be more stressful if it was just me working on these thing, but it's his wedding too and he should have some input...just not in the dress.
Anyway, Good luck with the try ons. Have fun and enjoy the process. You might find something you like there, but there is nothing that says you won't be able to try it on again down here for Mom and buy it then.

bring a strapless bra and wear modest undies. :)
also, BE OPEN MINDED! listen to the bridal consultant. try on something you never thought you'd like. you never know. I ended up with the complete opposite from what I thought I would buy.

Ditto - my dress is so different than the photos I brought with me. The shape, the material, the length. Bring the pictures for a general idea, but don't be afraid to try something outside of your comfort zone.
