Dress Shopping Advice

Dress Shopping Advice

So, I'll finally be graduating and that means that the real wedding planning is going to begin!! Kinda excited

First on my list is going to be dress shopping, both for me and bm.... How does this work??

For the bride's dress: Do I need to make an appointment with stores? Any recommendations in the Mineola area? I'm thinking Bridal Reflections in Carle Place

For the BM: I have 1 MOH and 8 BM. Should I bring them all at once or bring half at a time? Do I need to make an appointment for them too?? Recommendations?

BTW: I have no idea what to expect with this whole shopping experience

TIA

yes most places require an appointment...the first time looking for bm dresses i really wouldn't bring all of them, maybe just your MOH and 1 or 2 bm's if that and pick a few dresses you girls have a mind and then show the rest of the girls pics of the dress, most of them you can find online or take pics at the store

Call to make an appointment. BR in Carle Place carries the expensive dresses. They'll ask your price range and any particular designer and direct you to one of their stores. I bought at Massapequa, so did my MOH and FMIL.

Don't forget to ask obout their ordering policy - when do you have to order the dress, when will it come in ?
What are their alteration charges ?
Is there a cap on alterations ?
Can they recommend foundation garments for the type of dress ?

Don't bring all your BM the first time. Consider this a fact finding mission, find a couple of dresses that you and your MOH like and then bring your BM to choose and get measured.
Ask if you need to make an appointment for BM if only looking.

Having just gone through my first dress shopping expedition, i would say try on everything! even if you dont like how it looks on the hanger, you may love it on you!

And I wouldn't bring all the BM's at once. Maybe just you and your MOH or 1 or 2 BM, and see how different things look, and pick a few choices. if you have all 9 people trying to agree on 1 thing, it will prob. be a nightmare!

Most places require appointments. I suggest the Wedding Salon of Manhasset.

Always make appointments. Try on dresses the salesperson suggests even if you don't like them on the hanger. I hated my gown on the hanger.

I suggest Lillette's in Baldwin - they had a great selection. Ask for an appointment with Pat.

I made an appointment for my dress, but with the BM we just went in. I have six bridesmaids and they all came with me and it worked out totally fine.

Everywhere I went required an appointment, I highly recommend the Priscilla of Boston store in Roslyn, and I got my BM dresses at Jenny Yoo in the city and they came out AMAZING! Def dont bring 10 people with you to look at BM dresses, they will drive you insane! Just go with 1 or 2 people who you trust their opinions and pick something. Someone gave me a great piece of advice about BM dresses: if you have all different sizes in the party, then bring two people to try on dresse with differing body types so you can get an idea of what it will look like on different ppl.

Def make appointments. Also, if this is the first time you are going I would go with just my mother/Moh or both. The focus should be on you finding your dress first. Then you can worry about your BM's. Sometimes too many opinions isn't good. Plus it may take you a few stores to find what you want. Typically bridal dresses take longer to come in than the bridesmaids. Good luck, happy dress shopping!!!
