Dress shopping advice

I'm planning on going dress shopping on the 27th. I want to call today to make appointments. I'm not sure how much I should space them out.
I'm planning on going to the wedding center in commack (the are the only store on long island that has the dress I tried on in NJ)

which other stores should i look at?

I would make sure you have at least 2 hrs. Or ask them how long..becuase sometimes they allow you only a certain about of time!!! If you can get to Macy's...there's where i got my dress and its amazing. The custoemr service is fabulous and they have such wonderful dresses

Helen's Bridal is in Commack right near there and I've heard/read amazing things about them.

I got my dress at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place and so far I have had a wonderful experience.

I heard alot of good things about Lillette's...Figure you want to give at least 2 hours in each shop you go to. Never know how many dresses you will be allowed to try on or how much time they will allow you to stay and try on...

2 hours should be enough

Re: Dress shopping advice

I haven´t been to visit stores yet so don´t know much about it but maybe doing this before you go will help save time once you´re there.

I don´t know if this will help in your case but here´s my situation. I never really fantasized about the details of my dream wedding so when I started thinking about dresses I was at a complete loss. People kept asking me questions about how I wanted my dress to be but I had no idea. I never realized how many options there were. I started looking on line to get a better idea. The following link is for what was most useful for me.

You can narrow your search by neckline, length of dress, approx cost, etc, etc. After quite some time I realized that I want a dress with a halter neckline and that is floor length. I also realize that I go towards demitrious dresses. With this info hopefully I can be more specific when I go to the places to see the dress. Also if you see a dress and want exactly that one, you can look up where they sell it near you. You can then write down the specific style number and try on that dress.

Also something that I have seen is that there are websites where you can put in the style number of the dress that you want and they try to beat almost any price you got. I know some people are skeptical with internet orders but because of my budget this is probably the way I´m going to go.

Sorry it´s so long. When I start writting I go on and on. Also I have already gotten some good advise on these boards but since I´m so new to this haven´t been able to offer much of anything. This is the first topic where had some sort of info. Hope it helps.

p.s. - the site also does the same for bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses and i think mother of the bride as well.

I went dress shopping for the first time on Saturday and went to Macys in the Smithaven Mall. I am shocked myself to say it but I found my dress! It was the 2nd dress I tried on and tried on a bunch to make sure. Their consultant was amazing! Not to mention their prices cannot be beat!

I like Fantasia and Bridal Suite of Centerach...if you're gonna do 2 in 1 day, do 1 in the mornign and 1 in the afternoon...it can get time consuming so give yourself plenty of time!

Good luck!!

I went to Burtons in Melville and had a GREAT experience with them. I told them what styles I was looking at and they found everything and were soo helpful. They even showed me some different styles that complimented my body type.

I MAY have even found my dress there, but like I told them, I'd like to keep looking (just in case).

HTH! Good Luck and Have fun!!!

I LOVE Lillette's! If you make an appointment, ask for Geri. Give yourself at least 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Lillette's will let you try on as many dresses as you want and there's no time limit. I think I tried on around 20-30 gowns when I was there, and I was there for about 2 hours or so.
