My family is visiting NY next week so that we can go dress shopping. I am so nervous about this process, but glad I'll be able to do this with my mom and sisters. I am not sure if I should give the bridal salons my real wedding date or mention an earlier date. My friend had major problems with the store where she bought her dress and got it a month before her wedding. Did you give your actual wedding date to the bridal salons or did you give an earlier date to ensure the alterations, etc. are done in time?

I gave my actual wedding date and my dress came in super fast. I believe they said 4-6 weeks and it came in 2. I was soooo happy. I made my alterations appointment and pick up date already too. I went with David's Bridal so maybe you should check them out!

I gave my actual wedding date. I found and ordered my dress early in te process march 2013 for my June 2014 wedding. So I don't think there will be a problem. I would give the actual date bc they will make u pick it up a few days within the date u give them and u don't want to have to hold into it for weeks or a month!

I gave them 12/28/13 - a week before. I've done that for bridesmaids dresses, both mine and others, as well. I don't trust stores.
Plus, my wedding is a week after Christmas...chances are they wouldn't have given me a fitting in that time anyway.

I gave my actual wedding date and they told me it will come in a month before. Recently I started freaking out and thinking I should change it and tell them August or something because I am nervous for my dress to come in with an issue and I will only have a few weeks to deal with it!

I gave one week before my date. I bought a Maggie sottero from an 'authorized seller' and they gave me a certificate with my wedding date as 5/17/14 lol

Thanks for all the advice! I will probably give one week before my date too, to be safe.

I am definitely planning to check out David's Bridal! Great to hear about their quick turnaround time!

I get to FINALLY go look next week too!! Super Excited. I will tell them my actual date, unless (hopefully not) I end u having to order a dress with very short notice, then I'd fib to give me some cushion room. But I'm a horrible liar so I'd probably mess up and accidentally mention the real date while shopping. I'm notorious for giving myself away lol
