Dress Shopping - I went (update)

I'm going dress shopping for the first time on Wed. I've never been before and I'm not sure what type of dress I want. I'm going to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa since girls post they have a large selection.

Any advice?

Re: Dress Shopping

Bring a strapless bra, someone who will be totally honest with you, and your patience.

Other than that have fun - and try on EVERYTHING they suggest, you NEVER know.

Re: Dress Shopping

I agree.....I always wore a strapless bra and boy shorts!

Try on everything...even dresses you never thought you liked. Be firm...if you do or do not like something let them know.

Have FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Dress Shopping

Best of luck and have fun. Take your time, you'll know 'The Dress' when you look in the mirror and feel like a princess, and you say to yourself, 'wow this is it, I can't wait to walk down the isle and marry the love of my life'. I know it sounds corny but, that's how I felt when I tried my dress on. I knew it was the one.

Bring pictures of dresses you like so the women helping you have an idea of what you like, but if they bring you something different, definitely give it a try!!

Don't worry about wearing a strapless bra, they give you a long line bra at Bridal Reflections.

Most importantly, have fun!

Re: Dress Shopping

it was said but i thought it was worth repeating- try even the dresses they suggest! somehow they will read you and will know the perfect dress- if not its SOOOO ok to say no...but I found that i loved the gowns she found for me!

Have fun! Take pics of dresses you like... they made me fuss with my fair a lot- so keep that in mind- i didnt wear strapless they gave me corset bra

Re: Dress Shopping

i haven't gone yet either, but when you go....strapless bra and undies you feel comfortable in front of a stranger in and try not to bring the whole bp. your mom or close relative and sister(if you have one, if not, you can have mine and plan her stinkin' shower - kidding!) and relax and have fun, yes its serious, but don't get so stressed if you can't seem to find 'the dress' in one visit. go to 2 or 3 salons and try to bring the same people with you to each, this way, they can compare to the other dresses you've tried on

Have Fun!!!
Definitely do not wear a thong unless you don't care who sees what. When I went to try on gowns it was like everyone was in my dressing room with me. Yes I appreciated the help but I was thinking give me some space here ladies. lol

Enjoy!!!

Re: Dress Shopping

I made sure I did my hair and a little bit of makeup before going. It helped me imagine what I would look like in it on my big day.

I definitely agree with the other ladies about know when you are wearing the right gown. You'll know, so don't bring more than 2 people or you may have too many opinions to deal with. Have fun!

So I went to Bridal Reflections and they were so nice there. They had a good selection of Maggie Sotteros, I'll probably buy one of hers. I was surprised to hear the lead time on her dresses (9-12 months). Are most designers like that?

So far I like Eleganza strapless the best!

I know my FSIL had a Maggie dress & it took 10 months...I think each designer depends...My dress had a 4 month delivery & it came in right on the mark...

That is a beautiful dress!

I just updated the picture so you can see the back of the dress! The dress is actually pleated where the detail at the lower part of my back is. The color has an antique look and it has a shear cover.

I think it depends on the Bridal salon, BR also told me that it takes 10 months to get my dress (also a Maggie)and I found another Bridal Salon that had it much cheaper and mine came in within 5 months.

p.s. That is a very beautiful dress. Best of luck.

That gown is very pretty. Maggie Sottero has such a nice collection.

As for the almost a year to come in. I don't know about that. I bought a Jasmine Coutoure and I was told 6 months.

Kathleen

Beautiful Dress!!!!!!!!1

I would suggest trying to order it from Bridesave.com like I ordered my Maggie dress.

I believe I placed the order in October and I received it in January. The dress was in great condition. You also receive a Maggie Sottero Guarantee with the dress.

Just a thought

ETA: Forgot to mention. I saved over $400 by ordering it from Bridesave.

I am really loving that dress!

I see that it also has ones with little sleeves and off the shoulder, which is what I want...

I 'saved' it in my bridesave file!

The only thing I wish is that it came with 3/4 sheer sleeves which is what i want.

But that is just simply gorgeous. I love the back...
