Ok so I bought a dress like 3 months ago that I love BUT I am having second thoughts and it's not a big deal to me but what is a big deal is now that I'm going to try on more dresses I'm having such an issue with their sample sizes!!! I know wedding gowns always run small and I'm an average weight and height but my bust and hips are killing me! I can't get anything to fully zip or sit right and I am so upset because I just can't decide on something that I can't fully visualize!! My dress I bought fit me perfectly, now I'm thinking that's another reason why I chose it.
is anyone else having this problem??

Dress shopping issues! - Long Island Weddings
I haven't gone dress shopping yet, but this is DEFINITELY a big concern of mine. There is no way most sample sizes would go on and zip up on me. My goal is to try to start at bridal stores with the biggest selection (i.e. David's Bridal) just to get a feel for how different cuts of dresses look. That Way at least if other stores don't have samples that zip I can better visualize.

You can go to David's Bridal to get an idea of styles but don't be too upset over sample sizes at other places. I was surprised when I was able to slip into the samples at stores, they didn't close but I got a really good idea of what they'd look like. Bridal Suite in Centereach actually had a great sample size collection!

I tried on quite a few dresses before I said yes to mine. While I ultimately chose a dress that fit me perfectly, I don't think that was the reason why I loved it. I tried on a lot of dresses that barely zipped up, but I knew what fit I was looking for and that made my decision easier. Keep looking until you have no doubt that the dress you choose is the one you can picture yourself walking down the aisle in. I'm sure you'll find the dress you're looking for! Have fun!

This is a great question. Although my dress did fit me (def a little snug, I went a size up when I ordered) I do not think this is why I chose it. I think I would have still loved it if it was big and I had to clasp it, or if it was small. I dream about my wedding dress and can't wait to put it back on again. When I watch Say Yes to the Dress I don't like any other dresses more than I like mine for myself and my personal preferences. I think that's how everyone should feel about the dress they ultimately choose. HTH!

A good bridal salon will make it look like it fits so you can get the visual, they work magic with those clips!!

Re: Dress shopping issues!
This is partly why I'm dreading wedding dress shopping. I certainly will not fit into anything in the store. Hopefully they will be able to make some sort of contraption in the back so that I can at least get an idea of how the front looks ...

I am no where near sample size, but many salons have other size options. I also made it a point not to look at dresses I couldn't try on because I knew I could never imagine it well enough to decide. I am happy I (almost) fit into the dress I decided on, but there were other plus size samples that fit me 100% and that didn't sway my decision.

I just went to Village Bridal on Saturday, and they used a 'panel' (that's what the consultant called it) to put in the back of the dress to cover where your back would be hanging out from the dress not zipping up. Not the perfect fit, but it gave a good general idea of how something that did fit would look.
This has been a worry of mine as well, which is why I dreaded starting to look for a dress. Thankfully my experience wasn't nearly as awful as I'd feared it would be!
Now I just need to lose 40 pounds in the next year!!!

I bought a satin strapless mermaid with a long train! No rouching or gathering, it's very stream line, and alot of beading on the neckline and on the bottom of the train, buttons all the way down the back.

I agree, Macy's in Manhasset did a great job of making the dresses I tried on look like they fit with those clips!
