Dress Shopping PSA

Dress Shopping PSA

Just a tip for everyone who hasn't purchased their dress yet. I went to Paradise Bridal on Sunday and I found a dress that I absolutely loved. The price that they gave me was $980. When I got home I found the dress on the designer's website and got a quote from Netbride.com. Netbride said that they could get it from me for only $595 plus I wouldn't have to pay tax on the dress. I know that some people don't feel comfortable ordering their wedding gown off of the internet, but you can definitely use this as a bargaining tool when you go back to the salon. As I was leaving Paradise, the woman who was helping me told me that if I came back to buy the dress she would give me a better deal on it. Now I know why she was able to do that. I can't believe how much these bridal salons try to rip us off!!

Wow. Who helped you at Paradise I saw Helen. They say they will give you a better deal but I wonder how much....

Marge helped me. She was really sweet and very helpful, but I just can't justify paying an extra $400 for a dress!

Thanks Laura!! Does Paradise have the tags on the dresses then? Is that how you were able to look up the price online?

Nope. No tags or style number. The woman that was helping me was nice enough to tell me the designer and I found the style number on the website.

I feel like such an idiot...I bought my gown, tiara and veil from Paradise Bridal and paid FULL price. I did not know you could haggle the price. I fell in love with the gown and bought it...I COULD CRY!!

Also, the prices were on everything.

Don't feel like an idiot. These dress stores are totally out to rip us off. They know that when a bride falls in love with a dress they're generally willing to pay whatever they tell them it costs. I'm sorry that you got caught up in this, but at least you found the dress of your dreams.

I would have loved to use Netbride but they don't carry Maggie Sattoro gowns
Fortunately the dress I picked isn't tooooo expensive.

House of Brides has Maggie knockoffs, I found my dress for almost $400 less. When I go back to the bridal salon I went to I'm going to try and get them to lower their price to match, but any amount off will be nice, although the dress I picked wasn't that expensive. Just slightly over $1000.
