Dress shopping question...

Dress shopping question...

I was wondering, I made an appt to start looking for a dress. The lady on the phone asked what my price limit was--and I said one that is way too much--Do they pull dresses for you before you go? Or do you think I should call back and modify my price limits?
TIA!!!!!

I don't think so, I think it was to get an idea if you fall into their 'range' of dresses.

Just a tip though, when you get there and if they either ask, or make you write your budget down, undershoot it as most of them will bring out their most expensive dress first.

I went to one place and wrote that my budget was between $3K-$4K, and the first dress they brought out was $4,900. I ended up loving it (of course, such a wonderful feeling seeing yourself in a wedding dress) and that is what they are hoping for so that you'll buy it.

Good luck and have fun!

Bridal shops always bring out the most expensive dress first, because odds are you will buy the first dress you try on. (I read this somewhere -- there is a pretty high percentage.)

Don't worry about what you told them. Go and have fun!!!

well, at Paradise Bridal where I bought my gown they have two rooms. one is for gowns over $1000 and the other is for $1000 and under.

Maybe they were wondering what sales associate they should assign your appointment to, depending on who works in the departments?

I was not asked that question when I made my appointments to look though.

Don't call again to change your price range. When you get there, she may ask what type of dress are you looking for first. After that, then maybe you should let her know what the price range is if you notice the dresses she's pulling are too expensive. You never know if you actully get a nice sales person that is honest. Many of them will actually help you for your benefit and no there's...

Thanks for the advice!!!!
After I hung up the phone my sister and I were hysterical because of what I said--I don't know what I was thinking--the girl on the phone said thats a great price range--she probably thinks some big spender is coming in Thanks again

She may have some ideas, but mine asked me a lot of questions including price range. OF COURSE I saw one I loved hanging on the rack which was more than 2 times my limit, but I had to have it

Be ready to tell them exactly what you want, material and everything.

ick! I hate when anyone asks 'how much do you want to spend'. that's my business. and if you tell them $1500 (for instance) they will probably only show you dresses in that price range.

IMO, I wouldn't tell them. I would just tell them what I have envisioned for a wedding gown and let them show you what they have.
