Re: Dress shopping question
anyplace - first decide what you want to spend. some salons offer dresses starting at over $1500, so if your budget is $100....get my drift. check out lilette's in baldwin, davids bridal or burton's
have fun and good luck

What are their price range....I want to spend 800 - 1200 but rather stay on the low end.
Thanks ladies.....you are all a God Send!

Re: Dress shopping question
I only went to Macys but I heard that there is a bridal salon in Manhasset that's good. My MOH got me theknot.com's wedding gown book and I flipped through it and searched online...that was when I first got engaged tho and when I went to the salon I got a traditional strapless a-line! GOod luck and remember to TRY THEM ON! It's so true that they look different on you! Try suggestions even if they are not in your range to look at cut and style at least. Good luck and have fun! I wish I had more time when I was looking!

Re: Dress shopping question
If you're looking at April 2006, then ask what dicontinued gowns they have. You can get it right off the rack, and save a bunch of money. I'm not sure that 4 months is enough time to order any gown and alter it. I'm about to go for alterations myself.

The Wedding Salon of Manhasset is great...it's where I bought my dress but it is quite expensive. I spent $2700 and I laughed and said I bought the cheapest dress in the store. With that being said...they have samples for sale at good prices. Vera's for under a $1000 and reem acra and kenneth pool. So I would go and check out their sample sales. You have to have an appt., if you make one, make it with Sania...she is great! Also, try and get the 1st appt at 10am on Saturdays...you are the 1st one in and you can browse all the dresses 1st to get the best pick HTH!!

Re: Dress shopping question
I also recommend RK Bridal in the city. They have very affordable dresses there as well (i got mine for $600) They have a huge selection and the attendants are very helpful. What you do is go sign up for a dressing room and then go pick out 5 or 6 dresses. Then when you are trying them on, the attendant will go get you more based on your comments. They know all the styles and can find you a dress you'll like. You should pick out several styles to try on to get a feel for what you do and don't like. It doesn't matter what the dress looks like in pictures or on a model - you have to see it on you to get a true sense of how it will look. I thought i wanted a halter top, but when i put them on i hated the way it looked.
Its on 39th street between 8th and 9th - convenient to Port Authority and Penn Station.
