dress shopping question

dress shopping question

How far in advance do you need to make an appt to see dresses? I'd like to go when my mom is visiting in March, do I need to call soon? And what do you bring with you? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm new to this!

Not a dumb question!

I've called an hour before and done shopping on a whim, but I'd suggest about 2 weeks, 3 weeks at the most. I'd suggest bringing a nude strapless bra, a bottle of water, and wear nude underwear (not a thong). And be sure to leave your modesty at the door!

Oh lordy, thanks for the advice! I live in thongs, but I guess the dress helper doesn't need a full moon view. Didn't think about that

I've made appts 1-2 weeks in advance.

If you go to David's Bridal you don't need an appt. You may have to wait a little for a representative to help you but when I went I just walked right in, filled out the paperwork and was in a dress in 10 mins.

Haha I definitely wore a thong the first time. I was so embarassed but the lady at Village Bridal took it in stride! She was the best!!

ETA: I also fell on my face and got sick as a dog after the apptmt. It was not my day!!

I always think that I'm going to be like Carrie in SATC when her and Miranda go to try on dresses just for fun and then she freaks the heck out

I made most of my appointment 2 weeks in advance as well...another tip i found help was..if u plan on trying on strapless dresses or bringing your own strapless bra...have it on already....i made the mistake of just bring one with me and not wearing it to the appointment and it was SO strange when the woman completely stared at me and i mean stared at me while i was changing my bra and the room had a wall of mirrors

Haha, I'm the worst bride ever. And no, it wasn't fun for any of us.

In fact, I wanted to go to Friendly's this weekend and my mother and sister adamantly said NO! But I wanted ice cream!!!

I called about 2 weeks in advance. I used one of their full lined strapless bras and Im glad i did because I hate my normal strapless bra. And wear butt covering undies even though most of the time they will put you in a slip.
