Dress Shopping review (long)

Dress Shopping review (long)

Ok here are the places that I went to look for my dress and what I thought of the places:

Wedding Salon of Manhasset - A - they were wonderful. No pressure, and wonderful attention. Great experience would recommend checking them out.

Bridal Reflections Carle Place B+ I liked the store but we waited 30 mins for someone to help us which is why they got in the B range. The women I worked with was LOVELY she knew what I would like and listened to what I wanted and brought me exactly what I wanted to see. Even though it was busy she was NOT in a rush and there was NO pressure - she told me if I found something I liked I would have until end of August to buy the ones I was looking at.

Bridal Reflections Mass. B - they were very helpful here and very nice - I wasn't as thrilled with their selection - but I have no complaints - I did call them back to find out about a dress I was interested in since they carry the brand - they told me I would have to find the real number and bring them a picture of the dress or they could not help me. I explained that they don't have a picture on their site and they told me unless I found the picture they would not help me.

Lillettes A - Although they did not have anything I was interested in I want to thank Robeymuse and the other girls who recommend them. They were GREAT and made it a pleasant experience. I even got a nice thank you card from them a few days later.

Bonaventures Bridal C - the women was NOT pleasant, they also did not have what I was looking for - but the women helping me did not pin a single dress to me as they did at the other salons. She was unfriendly and boardering on rude. I was also concerned when they told me I would have to pay and additional 10% for extra material for the BOTTOM of my dress -for my 5'8' height - something that NOT another single shop told me. In fact I tried on identical dresses at Lillettes and they were way too long there - but here they appeared to be hemmed

And this past Sat. we went to:
Saks A+ - They were WONDERFUL and it was a great experience. I think I will end up getting my dress here. The saleswoman was VERY nice and much more knowledgeable than any of the other salons we visited (my friends and mother felt this way) She knew exactly what I would like and brought out dress after dress that would have been perfect. I think I will get my Christos dress from them.

Kleinfelds C - I was expecting to have a good experience here but a manager finally had to come in b/c the women was SO BAD. She never asked my price range and kept bringing in lower quality dress from what we were asking for - she brought me to a small section and said these are the only A-lines we have Pick - everytime I would pick something she would tell me you don't want that - we kept asking her if she had anything else -she told me NO wasn't that enough. We asked her about amalia carrara and she told me that they didn't carry her - SHE THOUGHT WE ASKED FOR MARCO - even though I SHOWED her a picture - We asked for Christos gowns and she only brought us one. The girl next to me had brought her FH and he was wondering around the hallways - she kept leaving me in my underware with the door open. Finally a manager came in and suddenly the dresses she told us that they didn't have showed up. We noticed others were NOT having the experience we had - so I think it was just the women - she didn't seem knowledgable about the dresses or about the store - kept telling me they didn't carry dresses that I saw a girl TRYING ON. We might give this place another chance with a different saleswoman though. I know a couple of people who had them and we knew they carry better designers than she was bringing us.

Lunch - We ate at Areo on I think 82nd and 3rd? I could be wrong about the address - BUT I recommend the place - the food was very good

That's a good review. I love Christos dresses, they're beautiful! I actually became a member of their website before I bought my Anne Barge dress, so I keep getting updates & certficates like $100 off - go to www.christosbridal.com (you have to show ID to claim them so I can't forward the certificates to you, sorry!) Best of luck getting your dress, definately post pics once you get it!

Christine-
Who was your saleswoman at Kleinfeld? I had a HORRIBLE experience there my first time too, and it was the saleslady. If you go back you should work with Nanette-she is incredible!!!! Did you finally get to try on the Amalia Carrara??

BTW- I LOVE Areo!!!!!! YUM!

Re: Dress Shopping review (long)

I think I'm going to get the Christos I found - but yes I tried on the Amalia Carrara the last dress they brought me - some women finally knocked at the door and kind of threw the dress at my mother -I still like it but it didn't hold a candle to the Christos I want - BUT NO PICTURES ANYWHERE of it! the girls and my mother thought it was the WORST experience yet. I worked with a Margaret (I could be wrong I will have to check the card she gave me) The manager was WONDERFUL though - when she showed up suddenly the service changed..lol.

I loved how the first 20 mins we were their she argued that they don't sell Amalia Carrara's - they discontinued her dresses - she thought we asked about MARCO - now how you do you get Marco from Amalia Carrara I have NO idea.

Areo - mom found it in Zagat - it said it was the best restaurant in brooklyn- so mom treated us to lunch there - the waiters were hysterical - making jokes with us etc. The food was excellent as well!

Re: Dress Shopping review (long)

When I bought my dress at Kleinfeld the Christos trunk show was going on. He was watching me (I had no clue who he was, I thought he was a pervert) and came over and complimented my dress! Said it was 'perfect' for me. Then he introduced himself and I was like Ohhhhhh...ok! I knew it was the dress when a designer of wedding gowns told me it was perfect-especially since it wasn't his line!
Christos gowns are gorgeous! What does it look like?? I can't wait to see a pic!

Re: Dress Shopping review (long)

Well it is Strapless - Ivory face satin - with empire waist A line. There is subtle lace with pearls and crystals around the breast area (but not a ton) then a 6-8 inch hem with again the lace, with pearls and crystals - it has small scalloping on the base of the hem - with like a 1/4 inch of tulle scallopped on the very base - it is subtle that you have to look close to see it thougth - but it makes a GORGEOUS train in the back - chapel length. Unfortunately I had to pick one of his more expensive dresses....lol. I plan on looking around a bit more but I think that is 'the' dress. I want to look around a bit - in case they discontinue the dress - but christos tells me they have no intention of doing that but since I don't plan on ordering until july I want a back up dress

Re: Dress Shopping review (long)

The style of the dress is similar to this - but only one layer at the bottom not three - but it is cut like this:

Similar to this on top but stapless - and in ivory

If you click on the link you will see the same pic as above but you can magnify the detail and that is similar to the detail on the dress
christos pic

With design on the bottom matching the top - but only 6-8 inches - I think this has more but you get the idea

You will laugh but if you click on this link then magnify you will see the scalloping on the bottom
go to pick to magnify and see bottom scallopping
