Well today I start my hunt for my wedding gown...My mom & I are going at 4PM today...I am so nervous about trying dresses on! I am afraid I am not going to find something I like...
Any advice???

Take a strapless bra and shoes that you feel match the height of the shoe you will wear on your wedding day. This will help you get a better look and the complete picture.

If you KNOW what you're looking for TELL the sales associate because otherwise she'll bring out things she THINKS looks good on you. Go with at least an idea (long sleeves, spaghetti straps, strapless, beading, long train, detachable train....etc....)
Good Luck....bring pics with you if you have some, that always helps.

I know I do not want sleeves....Do you think they will allow my mom to take pictures of me if there are a few dresses I like so that I can ponder them??

It depends on where you go, I didn't only because it took me a while to find 'the one' but my cousin did. You can always ask and if they say no, go into the fitting room with your mom and have her snap a couple so they don't see.

it depends on the place - most bridal salons will not allow you to take pics (and they stay close to the dressing room in my experience.) If you are at more of a bridal warehouse where uou try the gowns on yourself, I would say you can snap a few, but it is generally frowned upon. A girlfriend of mione is a sketch artist and drew a few pics in case I want to have a duplicate dress custom made.

Definitely try on all styles if it is the first time you are going. THe first time i went, there was a girl trying on a dress and my friend told me to try it on but i didn't want to. Several shopping trips later, a sales woman brought out the same dress so i tried it on because i felt bad.....well, it turns out that i loved it!!! and it is the dress i bought!!! so dont rule anything out right away!!!

Definitely give some of the dresses the salesgirl suggests a chance. When I saw my dress on the hanger I told her I wasn't interested, but when I put it on, I knew right away that that was the dress.

A big DITTO on this one. I hated my dress when she brought it out on the hanger. But, I tried it on anyway because it was the very first one to try on. I was amazed at how much I loved it!! Oh, and dresses I thought I loved in pictures looked horrible on... you just never know.

I agree....let the saleswoman help you....the dress that I am getting....i wasnt even going to try it on, but she persuaded me, and boy am i glad she did
