Dress shopping with mom and FMIL

So next weekend, guess what i get tortured with... the terrible task of starting the search for two of the pickest women alive! I need to map out my day with at least two cocktails and a few stores that are specific to their needs. Do you think I need to make appointments? And since they are only going to get ideas really, do I need to mention that to the sales consultant?

The next thing is, how do I get my mom to not want to dress too sexy on my wedding day. She lost a lot of weight, but not be conceited or anything, but I really don't want her to try to outshine me on my wedding day. She's going through the meno, and she reverting back to her 20's... mid-life crisis... YOU BETCHA!
Did I mention that she wants to wear the same color as my bridal party and expected me and FH to change the colors?? I have a mommy diva... uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?????????
Any advice on how to prevent a huge fight next weekend?

A couple of shots before hand? Just kidding. If your mom tries to get something a little too sexy, I would show her some 'alternatives' that you like that are a little less revealing. If she insists on getting something sexy, maybe talk to her. Oh, and make sure you are with her at all times when she is shopping for that dress because if your not, who knows!?!?

IMO, I wouldn't tell the sales associate that your just looking. In my experience, sales people tend to be a little less helpful when there is a chance they are going to make a sale. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

The sales clerk is always a good helper!!!

I got mine to talk my mom out of wearing white!

if you can talk to the sales clerk about your concern in private before hand and then if your mom pics an
'inappropriate' dress maybe the clerk can help you into talking her out of the dress.

eta: i didn't read the 'color' section...
My mom's dress compliments the colors of my BMs. She too wanted to match them after we talked her out of matching me!
example: BM's in spice with champagne accents, Mom is in mocha with champagne accents.. Totally different dress, same designer as all the BM, and my dress, and colors that compliment but are not the same!!!
