DRESS SHOPS!!

DRESS SHOPS!!

I need to find my wedding dress-- ASAP! I'm getting married this September (YES, 2008!!) and I've just started to look for a dress. Any suggestions on where to go for a good selection? I don't really have a budget and if it's the right dress, I'll be willing to shell out the $$$$$, but I guess ideally, I'd like to get a beautiful dress for the best/lowest possible price.

I really don't want to go to a shop that has a frequent bad history with brides. It's unnecessary stress and burden and with 5 months left til my wedding, I can't afford to have to deal with unorganized/bad service.

Also, don't need alterations because we have a friend who specializes in altering wedding dresses, so the shop doesnt need to offer alterations.

THANKS SO MUCH, LADIES!

well if money is not an issue then you can put a rush on any dress, they charge extra but you'll get it alot faster

I live in the city, but planning to go to LI. We're doing a manhattan run in the morning and then planning to go all over long island! I'll definitely check out Wedding Salon of Manhasset!! Thanks so much!

Oh, and it's not that money doesnt MATTER per se, but I've been saving up a longgggg time so that I'll have the funds if I reallllllly fall in love with something, you know? If I could keep in under 1,000.... it would seriously be the best thing ever!

Did you guys 'just know' when you found the right dress? I've tried on a handful of dresses recently, but I havent gotten that feeling at all!

lol i didnt mean it in a bad way at all. Just saying if you fall in love with a dress and they tell you it would take longer ask them how long if you did rush service. Trust me i wont judge anybody on how much they spend on their dress, fh still has to mention to me how much i spent lol.

I went to kleinfelds and LOVED them, you need an appointment though

Try Lillette's in Baldwin, they have a nice selection of Maggie dresses.

I got my Maggie at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. Loved the experience.
And yes, I knew when I found the dress. I was actually torn between two dresses, and BR told me to think about it for a week and then come back to try them on again. It also helps that I know what I want and don't second guess myself.

Any specific designers you are looking for ? That would narrow down your store locations.

You might also want to try a sample sale, so you can walk out with the dress right then and there, since you have a friend doing alterations anyway!

i agree! try lillette's! they have a great selection and so far i have had great service with them. i was skeptical of the 'just knowing' thing when i went to try on dresses, but it's true....as soon as you find THE dress, you will just know! good luck!

Re: DRESS SHOPS!!

I have been on the hunt for my dress lately and RK Bridal has beautiful dresses and I was shocked the prices are very reasonable. Big range in prices. Gilda, older sales lady was so helpful.

I have an appt at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place and they have a location in Massapequa and NYC on fifth ave. The Carle Place and NYC locations are both having sample sales this weekend.

Bridal couture of Manhasset which is near wedding salon has beautiful dresses but I asked the designer of the dress and she said she didn't know. Not a good way to do business.

Kleinfelds is great for the experience and they have a Pnina trunk show so you can get 12.5% off on those dresses. One girl Laura there was so nice and no pressure.

I also have an appt at Lillettes which I have heard great things about! Have fun and best of luck.

Check out My Daughter's Wedding in Great Neck. Both me and my mom got our dresses there. They have a good selection, with a big range of prices, and their service is great, very nice people there.

I also got my gown (a Maggie Sottero) from Lillette's and it was the best gown shopping experience I have ever had!!

You do have to make an appointment and if you can ask for Gerri- she's a doll and I love working with her. If you can't get an appointment with her try getting one with Christina or Carol.

They also don't rush you there and have lots of gowns to try on as well- they are located in Baldwin.
