Dress situation

Dress situation

Sooo I was one of those brides who bought a second dress because I didnt love the first one I got. I only paid like $300 for the first one and I bought the second one on my own. My mom was really devestated which I felt horrible about because she felt like she wouldnt get that special 'moment' back again. I tried to explain to her that I will always have that moment, I just wasnt exactly sure what I wanted and realized it later on. I felt like I kind of jumped into buying a dress too quickly. Anyway, this was back in November so she has had a lot of time to let it sink in so to speak. I have to go for my first fitting this weekend and I really want her to come but I'm like scared to ask her. I feel like such a baby but I cant imagine my mom not seeing my wedding dress before my actual wedding day. What is a good way to ask her w/o getting her upset about the situation again? TIA.

Re: Dress situation

I would just tell her that her being there is so important to you and if she says anything about recreating the moment you can just say you understand what she feels but that this is a different moment. . and that when you stand there trying to imagine what this dress will look like on your wedding day, and to see what changes you will need, you can't imagine not having her there and having her opinion. .

Re: Dress situation

I would explain it just the way you did in your post. Let her know that it's really important to you for her to be a part of preparing your dress. Even though it's not what you originally chose together, it's important that she sees it and likes it. I would think that maybe it will make her happy to know that you want to see your dress for the first time together with her. Hope this helps, good luck.
