i believe they do run a bit small but it depends on the designer. I would google the designer and find their size chart, there you can compare sizes to the measurements.

Depends on the company. The sizes go more by your actual measurements. I'm an 18 because of my large bust, but my hips and waist are a 10.

mine ran much bigger..im normally a size 4 and my dress was ordered in an 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was told it was because of my bust...so i was ok with that! lol The bm dresses also ran bigger..they all ordered in 1 or 2 sizes more than they are normally

I'm trying to get down to a smaller size. If I do well on my diet and with the gym, I'm hoping that they have to do quite a bit of taking in.

I think bm dresses run like a size or so small, depends on the dressmaker and the cut of the dress...bridal gowns I think run ridiculously small. All my married friends ordered several sizes different from what they normally wear for their bridal gowns.

It really does depend on the company.

DB was one of few places I found that was pretty true to size. I think Alfred Angelo is pretty close as well. Bonny was a size off but nothing dramatic.

I think its really sad because the one time you really want to feel good about yourself and special is your wedding and sometimes it really stresses you out with the sizes.

Most places are smaller because they can charge more money when you need a 'plus size'

In my experiences, wedding dresses of any category run BIG. I wear a size 2 normally but when I was fitted for a BM dress, they said I am a perfect size 8 according to their charts. My wedding dress was ordered in a size 6 and will have to be taken in in some places. It may however vary among designers. I really don't think the size means anything. It's really just where your measurements fall on the little chart they use to order the dress.

it depends on the designer. some of them run true to size...others are way smaller.

Re: dress sixes

it definitely depends on the dress.
I ordered a size 18 gown, however I do not wear a size 18 at all.
Most of my jeans are a 9 and the ones I'm wearing now are a 7... however I wear a DDD bra so we had to order the gown based on my largest measurement.

depends on the designers. for my BMs, my MOH usually wears a 10 and her measurements matched Bill Levkoff's 14.

i normally wear a size 6, and my gown was ordered in a 12. at my first fitting, it fit me perfect, only a hem and slight taking in at the bust needed to be made.

I don't think you can compare at all. Each designer is different. Personally i think it's awful they made them bigger sizes...we are all women why not make us feel good and go smaller/???? That being said I would my best not to worry about the number. I know i didn't. I just want my dress to fit me no matter what the number.

I agree with all the ladies that said it depends on the designer. Definitely look at their size chart...when I ordered my dress (Maggie Sottero), according to the size chart, I was a 4 and I'm also a 4 in regular dresses, so I was a bit worried because everyone was saying 'you should order a bigger size'. However, the place where I purchased my dress from, ordered it in a 4 petite (I'm 5'4), and when it came in, it fit PERFECTLY. The only thing the seamstress needs to do is the bustle and cups.

Re: dress sixes

Most of the time the dresses run 2 sizes bigger. So if you are usually a 4 then you will be an 8 in a wedding dress.
