ok ladies, my dress is that jasmine couture strapless with the flower appliques & black sash & flowers - I have to get a hem to hollow & would like to get that done in November. My concern is if I loose more weight. Lengthwise I can always just add more in the slip to fill out the bottom if it drops a little. However, with the appliques what do I do if it needs to be taken in A LOT?????? I am hoping to really loose a good amount of weight by the wedding and that could mean much more than the 1 size that they usually allow for. Any advice?

Re: dress sizing & weight loss
I was told most dresses can be taken in up to 2 sizes. Check with the seamstress on your particular dress though.

I've heard the 2 size thing too. Anything more than that can kill the structure of the dress....def check with the alterations dept though!

Re: dress sizing & weight loss
i hope that 2 size thing is not correct...i am ordering a dress in a size 12 (because of my big a ) but my top is only a size 6. they told me they can take it in without a problem...i hope they are right!!!
def check with the alterations dept; they will give you the best advice. after all, they would not want an unhappy bride!!! i would hope any good alterations dept will be able to handle whatever changes are necessary.

ok, 2 sizes, that would seem fine, that's all I really want to drop really... I'd love to see a size 10, but I DO NOT THINK THAT WILL HAPPEN. lol.... If I can get down to a size 12 I would be THRILLED! Maybe instead of ordering the 18 I would order the 16, but we shall see what I can do in 1 & 1/2 months!

Re: dress sizing & weight loss
if you have a good seamstress. . .i think anything could be done!
my friend paid for the hollow to hem and the dress came in several inches long. they told her to get higher shoes. . .she said helll no. They had to fix it b/c they mismeasured (she didn't have any body changes).
and I've heard of people needing a dress (one with hollow to hem) to be taken in several sizes (around 8ish. it was misordered).

It really depends on the dress. The Alterations department will give you the best advise.
