dress stress - please help!

Ok so I've been wasting time not going for my dress, i've been putting it off because I've been wanting to lose some weight before going through the hell known as wedding dress shopping. but with not enough time left, it's finally time to go....

can any of you ladies please recommend a good place where i can go for my dress? looking for good prices, good service, possibly plus sized samples, and professionalism toward plus sized brides. and a place with a quick turn-around for dresses (because it's almost march, i need to have that dress ready to go pretty soon - ugh i should've done this already i know i know)

i need a reliable place because i can't afford to waste anymore time.

oh, and being from brooklyn, i'm looking for a place in the nyc area if any of you ladies know of places around here please recommend.

thanks so much ladies!!!

First - congrats on your upcoming wedding!

When planning my wedding I was living in Brooklyn and working in Manhattan. I can only say that I went to a few places and wound up going with RK Bridal in NYC. Fantastic service when shopping for my dress. Make sure you make an appt w/ Olga, she is sooo sweet, patient and very good at what she does. She's been helping brides find that perfect dress for years. After finding my dress, I used Charlene for my fittings. She was very good and listened to what my needs were.
I was very happy with the way things went!!

HTH and good luck!

I second RK Bridal. My shopping experience there was fantastic. The sales girls are great, their selection is enormous, and their prices are awesome.

However, I would not recommend using them for alterations.

I am a plus size and got my dress at David's Bridal and didn't have a problem.

There are a lot of salons in Brooklyn, just call them to find out if they carry plus size samples. It is easier if you can narrow down certain designers. I went to Lestan just to look, but was not happy there. She showed me everything but what I was looking for.

Corset back dresses are more forgiving. I ordered my dress in a size 22 (to fit my bust). I was able to close a 20 sample, and get into a 16 with the back open.

HTH !

There are so many places in Brooklyn for you to go to and don't forget Kleinfeld's in Manhattan too. Below are some places in Brooklyn:

Valentina's Bridal - New Utrecht Ave & 76th Street
Doris Fashions - 18th Ave. & 68th Street
Lestans - Ralph Ave
Kelly's Kreations - 18th Ave & around 71st Street

and numerous others on Ave. U also.

Good luck.
