Dress too big, freaking out

Dress too big, freaking out

Someone please talk me off the ledge here... I just got my dress shipped to me (i moved back to long island a few months ago) and tried it on all psyched and stuff.

The top part, boobs and whatnots, seems about 6 sizes too big (i am not kidding) and the rest about a size and a half bigger.

I pretty much knew that it was getting ordered a bit big, and while I'm a big girl I coulda told the lady that the stress was gonna melt about 20 lbs off no problem, but now what do I do?

How much can the bust of a strapless dress be altered? I'm thinking that I need to order another dress STAT as i havent had a seamstress look at it yet etc.

Please gve advice!!!!!

Woah, I can definitely see why you'd be stressed, but I'd first go to a seamstress and see what they can do...they might be able to make the necessary alterations. I'd go to them ASAP and if they cant help you then I'd freak out! No seriously, take it to the seamstress and if they can do it great, no worries and if they cant then I'd start looking for a new dress. I'm so sorry you're going through this

You still have some time to have it fixed. If you need help finding someone FM me. My friend used someone who did a great job on her BM dresses.
Good Luck!

OK first BREATHE.... pour yourself a glass of wine and take another deep breath...... you still have time to get it altered. Go to a seamstress that you trust or one that somebody you know has used and likes and see what they say...... keep breathing

It may cost alot but I was told that the seamstress could def. fix it if I lost a significant amount of weight so just check it out before you freak and order another.

no jumping off the ledge!!

talk to a seamstress before you do anything. I was told that if i could lose 40lbs and be fine with the dress size i order now. of course it depends on the designer of the gown and what not but seriously, before you totally freak find out if things can be done.

you still have time to get it fixed and everything. it might be a little pricey, but then again it might not be.

breathe.
good luck!

dont worry. i lost 20 pounds since i ordered my dress and my seamstress said as long as i don't lose anymore weight they can alter it.

Don't worry too much. I'm planning on losing weight before my wedding and ordered the dress 1 size larger 'just in case' (my mothers request). I've already lost a few lbs.

I asked the woman at the store what happens if I lose 50 lbs. She said she'd be able to take the dress down. They said even if they had to bring it from a size 20 to a 10 they could do it no problem.

It's just the matter of finding a good seamstress.

I agree with everyone else about seeing a seamstress first. From my experiences dresses are fixable. Unless the whole thing is big, it shouldn't be a big deal.

How does the rest of it fit?
