Dress vent (long, sorry)

Dress vent (long, sorry)

So I've been looking at several places for my wedding gown.. I've been back and forth to david's bridal a few times and to lillettes in baldwin. I was torn between two dresses one at db and one at lillettes. So today I went back to db to try the dress on for one last time to decide. Well I walk into the store and there on a mannequin is a dress I never saw before so I asked to try it on. I did and i looooooooooved it! It was definitely the one.. my mom and i were really excited and we found the perfect veil to match it so we went to the front to place our order.

When they went to put it in the computer they found out that the dress only comes in ivory.. i wanted it in white. it was a new test dress that they are just selling in a few select stores to see if it is worth selling nation- wide. (the style isn't even on their website yet!) So i have to wait a few months and pray that they decide to market it and produce it in white.. if they don't they will just discontinue the dress and I'll be back to square one I almost cried today in the store.

why ivory doesn't work ---my FH pleaded with me before i went dress shopping to get a white dress (he had an issue being a groomsman in another wedding with his ivory shirt) the shirt he got wasn't a true ivory.. it looked like it was a dirty old white shirt.. he refuses to wear something like that again, so i promised my dress would be white.

awww... maybe you can take pics and have someone design it for you in white (if they discontinue it)?

my dress is ivory and i didn't even think about getting ivory shirts for the guys......if you LOVE LOVE LOVE the dress, get it in ivory and just explain the situation to your FH and maybe he will understand.

if you love it and you think you found the one the color tone should not matter!! it all

Can you perhaps talk to your FH? Maybe he will understand that you absolutely fell in love with the dress and are really upset about the possibility that it might be discontinued. Maybe you can convince him that the ivory shirts will work this time around.

if you dont mind the ivory i would talk to fh, maybe you can shop for ivory dress shirts together and find some that he likes before making the decision, this way hes more comfortable as well

thanks for all your input.. i'm gonna keep looking in hopes i find a good back-up if my dream dress falls through. I am going to try and bring up the ivory question slowly.. I kind of mentioned it today and my fh gave me that 'yuck' face lol

Okay so when I went dress shopping I was actually told that it was best to get a dress that was not true white. I was told that ivory or off white is best as many pictures are taken in artificial light and the white can be ghostly and doesn't photograph so great.

My dress comes in both white and off white and they put them next to each other for me and the white was like flourescent white. I would go with the ivory and talk to the fh...but hey at the end of the day you need to be happy!
