Dress Visit today!!! WITH PICS

SOOOOO.... Despite yesterday's little SNAFU with LIPA, I was able to visit my dress today at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. Upon pulling into the parking lot, I saw the utility pole in question. Had someone been standing there, they probably would have been terribly hurt or worse. Thank goodness that didn't happen. Check it out:


When I got to BR, the store was pretty much empty. The dress was waiting for me to try on and we (me, mom , my sister and my mom's aide) went to the back. It was weird seeing that the bag that my dress came in wasn't all big and pouffed out like every OTHER dress but then I remembered that my dress is silk and is quite straight. It had been so long since I saw the dress (May or June I think) that I forgot it actually has TWO trains. Oy Vey! One underneath that is rounded and one on top of that, that is asymmetrical. It's wild! So typically me to be a little OFF CENTER!!! We figured that we will need a double bustle to make sure it doesn't drag on the floor. It was easy to walk in and won't weigh me down all night! The first pic is without a veil, the second is with a veil that is not mine or even close but I was going for a look here! The top is gaping because it is too big!


I brought an assortment of undergarments not knowing which would be appropriate. The back of my dress is SUPER low and even my low back long line all in one isn't low enough. I also brought my nu-bra (gel things that stick to your chest and are just G-d awful) just to get an idea of what I can expect when they sew cups into the dress - that is my only choice. I stuck on a pair of panty hose to give myself a smooth middle and it was fine. The lines across my middle from the panty hose do NOT show, once the top is lifted and altered properly.

The dress fit perfectly to size. I normally wear a size 10 in dresses and street clothes and I was measured for a 14 - which I was cool with. They knew their stuff - they were dead on about sizes and I wasn't too proud to order a 14 - I was once a 24 so anything, to me, was better than that.

The dress is an a-line so there are no lines or seams that run across the middle. Again, the part of the dress that runs across my shoulders to cover the tattoo was gaping because the top was too big. It runs to a seam in the back and everyone felt it was a rather easy alteration to make.


Once again, I had an INCREDIBLE experience at Bridal Reflections of Carle Place. The lady who was helping me, was attentive. The people at the desk were reassuring and accommodating in terms of scheduling my first fitting. The manager on duty, my headpiece buddy, even paid me a compliment by telling my mom how cool and calm I was when I was dealt with the headpiece mishap.
