dresses

Does anyone know if the Macy's at the Smithhaven mall has a nice selection to look at/ try on? I'm so excited to start looking and that's the easiest for my mom and I to go to.
Thanks!

they do...but I have to be honest and say that after 2 times I would not go back due to the rude ladies who work there...not a single nice one in the bunch...sorry...JMO

Re: dresses

i went there only once.. my very VErY first time trying on a wedding dress.. they had ahuge selection, and the lady i worked with was EXTREMELY helpful.. helped me pick dresses, get into them and even gave me hints that i should buy the crinoline separate from jcpenney.. and then told me to not register as a bride there that day because if i let them know i'm a bride shopping, that first day if i buy one they give me a discount.. so dont even put my name in their files yet cause i wasn't ready to buy..

she was great.. i dunno if she is still there cause she was also getting married..

I found a dress I liked, but didn't buy. They were more expensive than a bridal shop, by quite a bit.

Kind of the same thing that happens every time I go to Macy's for anything.

Re: dresses

I went there with a couple of friends looking for dresses (BM and Bridal) and even though we called ahead and asked if we needed an appointment (they said no), they were extremely disinterested unless I was looking at the more expensive dresses. Why I don't know? But I wouldn't go there - If you're willing to travel about 25 - 30 minutes there's a great place in Melville - called Burton's for your dress and the Wedding Center in Commack for your mom's...

Re: dresses

I thank everyone for their input!!! I just got back from Macys (spent 21/2 hours) and the women were wonderful and the selection was huge!!!! I know they are a bit more expensive but I fell in love. In the whole expensive wedding scenario, do I spend $300 more than planned to buy a dress I love and not have to look anymore or do I keep looking and possibly not find one as nice????? So much pressure!!!

I would get the dress # and call another salon and price it. You can get your dress so much cheaper else where w/ alterations capped.

I've only been to the Macys in Manhasset and they were nice!

Re: dresses

I can't speak for all the other Macy's but the one in the Smithhaven Mall I would not recommend going to. A friend of mine use to work there and when it comes to getting the dress in and having alterations they do some shady work. This is only coming from one person, so don't just go by what I am telling you, but I just thought I would throw it out there. Good luck and happy dress shopping!!!
