Is it too soon to start dress shopping? How many of you have gone looking and or gotten your dress?

Re: Dresses

I went dress shopping for the first time yesterday. The only reason I am doing it so early is that my mom is making it and I wanted to try on different styles to see which looks best on me. She wants to get the show on the road on making the dress since she plans on making the BM dresses too!

I believe the experts say you should buy your dress a year in advance. If you start looking now you will get a better idea of what you like what looks best on you, etc. This way, you wont feel pressured to just buy something already and end up with something you are not totally in love with.

Good luck!

I havent started yet bc I have to loose weight first and then I feel like wedding dress styles change from time to time. I havent seen anything special out there yet.

I already started looking and I have tried on lots. I liked some and went back to try them on and didnt like them except for one. I have some other ones that I want to try on before I make it official. So I have to say if you want to be able to take your time and look at alot then start now or right after the holidays when the new ones come out.

Me too... I want to wait because I'm afraid I'll change my mind when I see next year's dresses. Also, I've lost weight but I want to make sure I keep it off before buying a dress.

Re: Dresses

My weddings is now officially 1.5 years away...so im going to start looking soon. I prob will need two or three months before I find something..as I work a lot of weekends...and see myself going out a few different days to try on. So for me..to order 1 year before my wedding would be perfect.

I also find that most of the dresses I like are from collections from 2006-2008. Styles dont change that drastically... AND the style you like will always remain the same.... You might just broaden your options by a few new dresses.. Honestly I dont think that would stop me from looking now. And once im done looking, im done looking. Why look at the new dresses and collections to make yourself doubt your choice? That could happen at any point after you buy your dress.

Re: Dresses

I am not going near dress shopping until a year to my wedding...so next October I will start...I just feel like I don't want to go now and do all the fun stuff and then have nothing to do right before the wedding...and styles change so I am holding off.

I've been cutting stuff out of magazines to get ideas but I haven't gone in to an actual store yet....I'm probably going to start within the next 6 months.

I bought my dress already, I'm so happy with it, I know it is ridiculously early, but I was so afraid it would be discontinued.
