I never thought this would happen but I feel like I'm slowly drifting apart from the girls who aren't settled down and completely single. I just have different interests and have less and less in common.
This makes me sad.
Anyone else feeling like this?
I don't know if it's because we grew up and are different people now from when we were younger or if it's because I'm getting married.

Re: Drifting apart from Single Friends
I think friendships ebb and flow naturally. You are drifting from your single friends, but may become closer to them when they marry or have children.
I am among the last of my friends to get married, but I have lived the 'married life' so to speak (kids, mortgage, etc) for the past 5 years. Single friends and I drifted a bit after I had my first child, but came back together when my 2nd was old enough to stop breastfeeding and I managed to find enough time to go out once in a while for a few glasses of wine.
It is a matter of making the time and finding common ground. If the friends are important enough... you find a way.
And one day.. they will be married too!

I know how you feel. I've drifted apart from a group of friends even before I got engaged. We all kind of gone in different directions.
That happens sometimes. I do try to keep in touch, but with everyone spread out it's hard to get them back together. I feel bad at times.

I kinds know how you feel, but I am the only one out of all my friends that isn't married. We all do see and talk alot less now, they have kids too. Everyone is always busy w/their families, I'm sure I will be too when we have kids. It is kinda sad.

I am actually drifting apart a little from my friend who is getting married. She is getting married in 2 weeks and i just feel like our friendship is not the same. She will be my future sister inlaw too.

honestly, i think that is just life in general. as we grow older, we make new friends--and the relationships with others can change. it happens! don't feel sad...people who are TRULY your friends, will stick around and you will have everlasting friendships with them.
remember---there was probably a time when you were single and had a few friends that got in serious relationships, and you just didn't click the same way or wanted to go out and do the same things! that's basically what is happening now. but like i said, the true friends, will always last!

Totally agree with you. I started drifting apart from some of my single friends while I was still single.
Overall, I have a small group of good friends that I've had forever and I know will be around forever and I've picked up a few new friends that I know aren't going anywhere through being with FH.

Exactly!!! The same thing happened to me-- I drifted from certain people because they were not good enough friends to stay when the tides changed a bit... I still wanted to be close with them even though we were in different places but they did not with me which ultimately made me realize that they don't hold much water to begin with! Now, as time goes on, I've been making new friends (some who are engaged/married, some who are not) and they are great-- I can definitely see a lot of them being 'life long' TRUE friends... What's meant to be will always find a way and if they are meant to be my friend and they are good people- then they will.

Re: Drifting apart from Single Friends
It is natural, but I've definitely felt crappy about it.
The job and life is crammed with stuff, so even having time to wedding plan is dicey. I can't even come on these boards (even if it's just to lurk ) as often anymore!!!
I try to go out with the single friends separately as much as I can, but it is hard to make those plans as much since I don't see FH as much I should even during the week...

Re: Drifting apart from Single Friends
I'm the last of my friends to get married. A few of them that I've been friends with since childhood treated me like I had a disease when I was single. (at the times I was not in a relationship. Even when I was they had no desire to see me) It was very hurtful. Message to all. Try not to alienate your single friends!

SInce I'm not married yet, I cant speak from that side, but I noticed that thre is a definite split, albeit slight, between the 'marrieds' and the 'unmarrieds' in our group of friends. It is really weird and sucky and I hope it doesnt happen with me abnd FH, although I think it will. It is the naure of the changing of life and relationshiops.
