Any suggestions with recipes? My friend's shower is this weekend and we need to find a yummy drink.

Punch punch punch!!! I made a great punch (if I do say so myself) for afb10304's shower and I had a bunch of people asking me for the recipe! But, of course, it's at home. FM me to remind me, I'll send it to you when I get home tonight.

Mudlsides!
Vanilla ice cream, vodka, bailey's Kahluah, chocolate sryup (just a touch) & blend in blender with ice
You can also buy pre-made stuff at the liquor store...TGIF's makes a whole line.
A very elegant (and easy!) drink to make is a 'kir'. It's a French drink, made by pouring a little bit of creme de cassis (blackberry liqueur) into a wine glass, then adding white wine. It makes it a pretty pink color, and very yummy. You can also make a 'kir royale' by using champagne instead of white wine.

The choices, the choices! I LOVE mudslides. But I think it would be easier to make something once and have it out there for refills. What is in Sangria?

Sangria is either white or red wine (usually red) with a lot of fruit in it. I've seen it usually done with apple, oranges, and pineapple. I think there might be some brandy in there too. There's probably a good recipe on Drinkalizer.com or Webtender.com
Personally, I love bellinis--champagne with peach nectar. It can be pretty cheap if you get a $3 bottle of Andre Spumante and some Goya peach juice

Re: Drink for Bridal Shower
Bellinis are delicious - champagne and pureed apricots!
For my friends shower we are having the restaurant serve code reds which are a mix of champagne and remy red. But since code red doesnt really work with a bridal shower I have renamed it 'Wedded Bliss' with a description on the menu that reads
'Wedded Bliss Cocktail Champagne for luck, Remy Red for passion and a sugared rim for love'

My sister and I make sangria for parties all the time and have found that cheap wine makes the best sangrai. Use a gallon of Carlo Rossi Paisano, get a cheap bottle of brandy (I think we use one called Napolean), for the orange flavored liquer just use Triple-Sec. We have never used bay leaves or club soda, so I can't help you out there. It always goes over well at our parties.

Re: Drink for Bridal Shower
How to make (RED) Sangria: dry red wine (2 bottles) 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup of brandy or to taste. You can add more after you let the fruit sit over nite in the mixture. 2 oranges 2 apples 2 lemon
Oops! Forgot the sparkling water - I use the store brand orange seltzer.
Sangria is always best when it's had a chance to sit over night. The fruit will start to absorb the flavor of wine, and the mixture becomes more sweet. That's why I like to start with a little brandy in the beginning and then add more to taste when I'm ready to serve.

Re: Drink for Bridal Shower
For my shower my sister in law dipped martini glasses in melted chocolate and let it harden, then filled them with cosmos (vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice and limes).
My friends and I make sangria and mojitos a lot: mojito (sugar, fresh limes, fresh mint leaves, white rum, and tonic water or sprite) and sangria (red wine, orange juice, blackberry brandy and fresh fruit).
Williams Sonoma has great margarita mix also!

I know this is boring, but how about Pina Coladas. I love them, they are so yummy. I think I must have only had that to drink on our cruise. I couldnt get enough of them. I also like the idea of sangria; another favoritie of mine. I like mudslides also and on the cruise they made a chocolate/bananna mudslide... YUMMY!
