My hall told me I could do a drink menu to display on the bar throughout the reception and asked that I send the drink list to them before I make them to make sure they are equipt to make the drinks. I told them that I just wanted to use what they already have, but they couldn't give me a lsit of what they offer- they just said it was premium. And now they say that to make the drinks it will cost me an extra $500!!! And I can only have them during cocktail hour!!!! All I wanted to know is if there were things I put on there that they can't make- I just want to use what they already have! I thought that having an open bar meant that it was included in the price. Im so confused!!

Re: drink menu
Usually open bar does mean it is all included. I know we were told we could create a signature drink of a few and make a list of them -- it wouldn't cost extra as long as they had the appropriate ingredients in house.
So they are now charging you $500 for the bar and won't tell you what liquor and mixers they keep in stock?

Re: drink menu
I think thats what they meant! Im not sure! Im waiting to hear back from the girl we talk to. She had written on our contract that we could make a drink menu as long as they could check it first. Im sorry but Im not paying $500 for a vodka and cranberry and like a margarita. They even have on our menu that its open bar and there are frozen mixed drinks and she wrote on our thing that people can ask for a martini. I just wanted to make a menu to give people ideas for what to order.

Re: drink menu
I would double check. I wouldn't think you would need a drink menu unless it is a specialized drink. Most people know what they like to drink and that is what they are going to order.
I know for us they can make pretty much anything they just may not have a specific brand of something.

This is what we have too, definitely no extra charge for it! Maybe they meant if they had to print the drink menus and get extra ingredients? I'm sure it's not for regular well drinks and stuff like that!

That's good you had it in your contract! I think it's a nice touch to make up drinks... I've seen people have it and give the drinks cute/ funny names relating to them as a couple. So instead of a cranberry vodka- you could call it LOVE POTION #9- LOL....

Re: drink menu
WHAT?!
They are out of their minds over there i swear... I was originally told that Frozen Margarittas were totally included and that they could even do a set up for me if i wanted it... but now i'd have to pay an extra $500 for that too.
so don't make the menu, guests know what they like to drink, and when they order it, the bar will make it. that's what i was told when i called them.
