How did you guys overcome (fear) or get used to driving beside huge trucks?
Can I connect directly to the northern state from the cross island?

the LIE is the only on that trucks can go on. After a few months of driving next to them I kinda got over it. You can connect from the cross island and the clearview to the N. S.

trucks are not allowed on parkways...
i still hate driving near big trucks!
merging was my worst, but one day i just started to DO IT...and it gets easier...

Trucks are not allowed on parkways so that would be the way to go to avoid them..the northern state turns in to the grand central which connects with the cross island.
You sort of get used to sharing the road with trucks by doing it. I don't ride right next to them but then I try not to ride right next to any vehicle.

I always yell at FH (he is a truck driver). He says they own the road and if you don't want to get crushed - then get out of their way. I told him I HATE truck drivers. Except him of course

i just speed past trucks as fast as humanly possible. just make sure not to hang out in their blind spot too long and you should be fine.
ditto what someone else said about northern state-gcp-cross island.

if you're in the blind spot and can't get out, honk a bit to let them know you're there. that's what i heard. also, they are not supposed to be in the left lane of the lie. or hang out on the service road.

Yes LIE is the only one that allows for commercial traffic, you can pick up the northern state straight from the cross island, it is just called the grand central at that point, but at the nassau border it turns right into the northern state.
As far as driving next to trucks, it never bothered me.
