At what stage in pregnancy does it become uncomfortable/difficult to drive?? My sister's due in June, and she told my mom that it's getting uncomfortable for her to drive. (I think she's just saying that so she doesn't have to take my mom to her dr's appointments, forcing me to take her all the time. ) Thanks everyone!!

Re: Driving while PG??
In my job I travel (drive) ALLDAY, I make homevisits. I worked right up until i delivered with my last pregnancy, you just have to learn how to adjust your seat. I could see hoe driving an hour or more and not being able to get out of the car and move around could be uncomfortable. When I was 6 months pregnant with my 1st born, mh DH, Mom and Dad traveled 9 hrs to a remote place in Maine, I was cursing at everyone once we hit the 5 hr mark, and we had 4 more hrs to go!! Everyone is different though, maybe the baby is sitting on your sisters nerves differently and causes her to hve more discomfort than i have when driving.

Re: Driving while PG??
I never had any problems driving. I drove right before the day I delievered, and I was 10 days late. But I only gained 22 pounds during pregnancy so I never really got that uncomfortable feeling that a lot of women get. I have heard people say they couldn't drive but your sister seems kind of early to have that problem.

Re: Driving while PG??
I am due in 7 weeks and I am not uncomfortable driving. I have plenty of room between me and the stearing wheel.

Re: Driving while PG??
That's the exact reason I'm glad I have a brother.. do you really think she would lie just to get out of it this early in her pregnancy?
I'm due in May and prefer to drive because I get less nauseaed that way but maybe she does have a valid reason like getting in and out of the car is tough? automatic seatbelts? does she maybe have to help lift your mom out of the car? or is she short without tilt steering so she can't reach the pedals as well?
But yikes if you really think she is making it up, ya just better get used to driving your mom now because she is just going to have more excuses once driving involves a car seat and taking a baby in and out of the car no less doctor's offices.
Good Luck!
Ps. maybe you should buy her a prenatal workout tape maybe she just needs to stretch more if she is that uncomfortable with 4 months left she might want to see if she can remedy it now or maybe if it's her back a pregnancy support belt would help (they are 15 bucks at motherhood maternity) maybe you can get her one.. (hint hint.. lol)

I'm due in June and I don't have any trouble driving. I don't sit on top of the wheel though, maybe it's the position of her seat???

Re: Driving while PG??
I always wonder about this for myself. I am only 4'10. I have to sit on top of the steering wheel to drive Im afraid of what will happen when I am pregnant. People always comment on how close I sit. Its a little scary god forbid I have an accident...

Re: Driving while PG??
Thanks for all the feedback, girls.
My sister's about 5'8', skinny. With her first, she didn't start showing til the very end. If you didn't know her, you'd never have known she was PG. With this pregnancy, she was sick the first few months. She wasn't with the first one.
I really hate to think she's lying just to get out of helping my mom. She wouldn't have to help lift her out of the car or anything. I feel so-o-o-o bad in thinking she's 'using' the pregnancy as an excuse, but honestly, I can't wait til I can start saying the same thing!!! (We're still TTC)

Re: Driving while PG??
Im almost 6 month and the only thing about driving now is that the seat belt is somewhat confining and restricted with my coat and the belly, I can wait till I dont have to wear the coat anymore. Come on sprinG !!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Driving while PG??
It really sux if she's using her pg as an excuse. Every woman is different so give her the benefit of the doubt.
I drive all the time and don't really have any problems. Sometimes, I have some discomfort when I step up into the car.
