Dry nostrils?...

Dry nostrils?...

I read in What to expect.... that dry nostrils are a normal symptom. My nose is always bleeding and it's been bothering me so much I have trouble sleeping. The book recommended getting a humidifier and I was wondering if anybody else had this problem and if they tried the humidifier. If so, was the humidifier worth it?

I didnt have this problem my nose was always stuffy. I did get a humidifier (which is also good to have after baby comes) and it does help when Im sleeping.

I have both stuffy and bloody nose. I don't have a humidifier but I hear it helps. I just deal with and am going through a ton of tissues!!

Thank you, I think I'm going to get one. I've been debating and I just wanted to hear some opinions.

My sister is preggo and she has this issue too. She uses a humidifier and it does help her a lot. Definitely try to get one that is quiet. I get frequent nosebleeds and asked the dr. about them. He said to wipe the inside of your nostrils with a little vaseline on a q-tip to try to keep it from getting too dry.

What about those saline nasal drops? That might help. Even if you just used the childrens 'Little Noses' brand it may moisten things up and then the vaseline will seal it in.

You could try Berillium (sp.) as well, assumming it is safe to use during pregnancy. I would swab a little in my nose prior to flying, it keeps your nasal passage open as well as moisturized.

OMG, this is a horrible feeling. I've been having this stupid nasal symptom for over a month already. Poor DH complained that I snore at night, because I couldn't breathe thru my nose, so I'd sleep with my mouth open.

I've bought an air purifier (our apt is dust-prone), and tried Saline Drops, and even put Tiger Balm on my outer nostrils. I then bought a cool mist humidifer... and after all this... the problem is still there. The drops helped a lil, but it's like I'm immune to them now. The tiger balm definitely helps, but it's temporary, so when I wake up at night, I reapply. And the humidier works, too, but it has me freezing at night.

My next purchase: a WARM humidifier... lol.

I hope none of you are going through this. I sometimes wonder, maybe I'd rather have the vomit factor than this nasal swelling thing.

I have this problem two, very uncomfortable!

I donlt have a humidifier but i have another remedy: put a dish full of water in the room where you are sleeping. Make there it's full every day before you go to bed. It does the same thing as humidifier, costs nothing and makes no noise.

You will see the difference in the air.

Re: Dry nostrils?...

good idea ...putting the water near a heat source will speed up the evaporation process...
