Duet Advice

I am seriously thinking of booking Duet Photography. Does any one have some advice or tips? Anyone want to give me a review? I know there are a lot of posts about them already, but what is one more? I almost think their package is too good to be true. How did you like your album?

Re: Duet Advice

Hi Nora,

I met with Duet several months ago, so I do not know if their prices have changed, but they were super affordable. They were very nice, had great pictures and video, but ultimately I went with some one else (Anthony from Perceptions).

You should do a search for littlecat's pictures. There are several brides who have used them or are using them.

If I may ask, why did you go with Perceptions?

It was just a matter of comfort. My Fh got along very well with Anthony and I liked his pictures better. Duet was a close second.

Re: Duet Advice

we booked duet. i had previously listed on LIWed our whole package, but it got deleted/edited out. I guess that is not allowed.

generally speaking, you can get a photo/video package as cheap as 3000, and can run into the 3500-3800 range.

we loved their quality and their sincerity.we dealt with the owners, nicole and eric. He is a highly talented ex-film director. he does your video editing, and in my opinion has a great eye for production stuff.

they seem that they truly wanted our business and truly take pride in their work. it is hard to describe, but the distinguished themselves from the other few we saw, not only in talent and quality, but in sincerity, and their willingness to cater to what we needed.
they were flexible with what they included in our package and what they were willing to exclude, (although we chose most available options), including pre wedding pictures and video. if we chose to eliminate an item, and replace it with another item, they did not automatically add cost to the package. that really helped us.

when we contacted them they were very willing to email us there package including options. and they listed there prices, which made us feel like they were not taking advantage of us.
and yes, i believe there package is too good to be true. but they are for real.

hi! I went to check them out too -- they're very nice people who also do very nice work at a very affordable price -- I just wanted to tell you that the albums in their packages aren't the 'LeatherArt' kind -- if you want them, it'll be another $400 for bride album -- at least that's what Nicole told me -- I didn't haggle with them though. The albums are the full page photo type -- not sure what that's called -- It's still very nice but I'm more traditional.

As far as the album: They showed me 2 that I wasn't too impressed with. THen they brought out the mother of all albums- they send it to Austriala to get done. I liked the cover better and it also included 'pretty' pages, with a backround and the pic on top. They told me I could get those pages in their reg album. Also, you couldn't upgrade the parent album to have more pics.

Re: Duet Advice

Just have to chime in -- I haven't posted my wedding review yet, but I used them for video for my wedding on Aug. 2 and they were amazing to work with. Since I haven't gotten the video yet, I can only comment on their behavior before and during the wedding, which was amazing.

My guests kept commenting on how incredible it was that the videographers seemed to be everywhere, but were disturbing nothing.

Booking them was so refreshing -- they seemed to care more about the fact that I have everything I want than about how much $$ they could get out of me. So far, they have gone above and beyond my expectations. Can't wait to see the video!

Re: Duet Advice

Hi, I booked Duet Photography. Nora, I think I FM you in the past about Duet.

I agree with lesleym, I feel they cared more about us and what we wanted then how much $$$ they could get from us. Also, we wanted the negatives after everything and they had no problem writing that into the contract.

We just got a really good feeling about them and after I read littlecat's review we went with our gut feeling and booked them.

Good luck and if you have any more questions, please feel free to FM me any time.

I have to agree with Peabody.....and I also booked them for photo & video for my wedding next month. We just did the casual day shoot yesterday and I can't even wait to see the proofs.

Re: Duet Advice

I have to say I did a search for Duet Photography because I am looking at them as well. I had met with Mark Kauffman and he had me hooked. When I found out the prices that Duet is charging I thought to myself, 'Duet will probably not even compare'. After reading your posts I am excited to meet with them next week. What packages does anyone suggest? Mark quoted 750+ proofs and Duet guarantees 400 proofs.

Re: Duet Advice

We are using Duet for our 4/23/05 wedding. My friend is on this site too and she filled me in on them ...then I read some posts from girls who used them and loved them...finally, came littlecat's proofs and that was it...I was off to the studio!! I think that their work is amazing and of course, so much more reasonable then I expected. I too wasn't in love with the albums that they showed me but loved the quality of their work. IMO, the album itself isn't as important as the actual pictures are. So...since it all seemed to work for us....we booked and got a really great rate (which will probably start to go up next year). Good luck..
