*I am desperate. Thought maybe it would help to post on two boards.
Okay girls, I don't have a lot of time because I have to give Duet a call within the next hour or so but I am really, really upset. I don't get a chance to post on here too often but I know if anyone can help it would be all of you.
Anyway, I booked my engagement pics with Duet back in August and scheduled them for next week. I am a first year teacher and I can't take off from work so I made sure to book early in order to get a day I knew schools would be closed. At the time, I wasn't positive of where I wanted the pictures taken but whoever I spoke to assured me it would be no problem at all for me to call the week before to confirm a location. Yesterday I called and left a message and when someone returned my call today things went all wrong.
My pictures were scheduled for 1:00 and I wanted to go someplace in Suffolk County to shoot at a pumpkin patch. Anyway, they are now telling me that since my photographer has another appointment at 3:00 in the city, I have to choose someplace else. I am really upset.
The last few times I have had the chance to browse on here, I have noticed several girls have mentioned that they are really backed up. I understand that, however, I think that scheduling two appointments so close together is unfair to both clients. Anyway, I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any problems recently and also for those of you who have already had your pics taken w/ Duet, how long did your session last? This is supposed to be an exciting and fun day and I do not think it is right for us to be rushed or to have to change our location simply b/c he has someplace else to be. Any feedback would be great. TIA.

Re: Duet Advice Needed ASAP
I am soooo sorry to hear about this. That is so crazy that they would schedule the sessions so close to each other. Is there any chance you can move your shoot from 1:00PM to an earlier time?
When we scheduled ours they were really pushy on making our pictures earlier but I got my way.
When we took ours we were upset because our photographer only spent 40-50 minutes with us. We really thought they would spend more time with us.

Our e-shoot was about 50 minutes as well. We thought it would be longer, but I think the weather (gusting winds) may have prevented that. . .

our shoot was an hour and a half long, they actually pushed our time back the day before - but I did not mind because I wanted the sun to be setting in some of our pictures which it was.

Our was about an hour and a half. Maybe it depends which photographer? I had TJ. I also would look into moving it up earlier to noon or so.

Ours was about an hour...and cooooold I agree that you should try and make the appt. earlier. They're usually pretty flexible. I took mine on a Monday (b/c I was already off from work) but they usually only do e-pics on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. They called the photog. & said he'd do it on a Monday. I'd def try & change the appt. time. GL!!
Who is your photog??

Re: Duet Advice Needed ASAP
We had our photo session with Duet back in September. The session was just under an hour and he took a ton of pictures. I think we got in all the pictures we needed in that amount of time.

You probably already had to make a decision, but to chime in, ours was 2 hours. Definitely try to make yours earlier if you can. My other suggestion is to consider whether you are tied to your photog? I know when we booked I really didn't have a clue and it was kind of just picking a name out of a hat, based on a few pics. Not that you should have to change because of their scheduling, but it may be worth considering if other photogs are less busy/popular/available these days. I loved Jay and had my epics within a week!

THe same thing just happened to me! I scheduled them for 1:00 and we have to go to the city (even though we want to take them somewhere in Long Island) It was a popular day to take them i guess

Re: Duet Advice Needed ASAP
So, this saga continues. I was on the phone back and forth with Duet all afternoon and nothing has been resolved. They are now continuing to tell me that they would prefer me to take my pics somewhere closer to the studio or in the city. They are also adding that the place I chose is 47 miles from the studio when the contract says it must be within 40 miles. I feel like for the amount of money we are giving them is it really good business practice to make a big deal over a mere 7 miles? I am so upset and am really disgusted with the fact that they are trying to make me switch my location simply because of their own poor choice in scheduling the shoots so close together.
I appreciate everyones feedback, however, hearing that some have had their sessions last an hour to an hour and a half long makes me even more disappointed in what is going on right now. I know some of you have suggested moving the shoot up a little which I discussed with Duet that I would be willing to do but I can't move it up too early because my fiance already put in for a half day to have off in the afternoon. Again, any suggestions you have to offer would be great. I am close to taking a drive there tomorrow and dealing with this in person.
Not sure who asked but my photographer is TJ and I've been dealing with both Eric and Peter over the phone.

Re: Duet Advice Needed ASAP
Thanks for asking. We are actually still working on it. Peter wasn't in today so I spoke to someone else and told them we are willing to move our time up (my FH is going to take the full day off rather than just a half day). I will keep you posted when the situation is settled.
P.S. Someone yesterday suggested the Queens County Farm Museum. I looked it up and definitely think it has potential. Does anyone have any pictures to share from there?

I mentioned the Queens County Farm Museum last night! FH and I found it one day driving on Little Neck Pkwy - so weird that this is on the border of QNS and LI - in Floral Park!! There was an 08 bride that got married there, but I don't remember her name. Google image it - obv I can't post pics.
