DUET advise!

DUET advise!

I have a couple of questions about Duet. I met with them last week and Loved thier albums. I just have a couple of concerns.

Is the their a language barrier at all becuase my FH was a little nervous that he couldn't understand Eric?

Do you know who your photographer team will be .. if so can you recommend one group over the other?

Does the package price include all the retouching and stuff like that?

I really like them I just want to check out Duval and Artistan to get a comparison (I checked out Velvet but they were more expensive and I just felt like DUET was more professional)

Any input would be great thanks.

Re: DUET advise!

I am booked with Duet (Jay's team).....as far as a language barrier, I too felt that Eric was at times a little difficult to understand.....BUT when I went home I consulted my LIW search engine and I was reading previous comments that the photographers are much more clear than Eric. So that eased my concerns......my main appeal with Duet is how much I LOVE their work, and especially considering their price is very reasonable!!

I would not necessarily recommend one photographer's team over another......If you do a search on here you'll find reviews on Jay, Woo, Alberto & Sam. If you find one style you consistently like, then see if you can get their team. I just loved Jay's work so I chose him. And he was written into my contract, so I don't suspect any switcheroo's to be happening lol!!!

Yes their pricing includes retouching if necessary, and black & white shots as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions.....good luck deciding!!

i met with them and loved their work, but did not good them. I hear that the communication with the photographers and videographers it great. It's just hard to communciate with the owner, Eric. Good luck

NO problems at all. Eric is the most difficult to understand, but is such a nice guy!
The main thing you have to remember too, is that you are not hiring your photographer to have a conversation with, but to take pics. SO if you love the pics then that should be your decision making factor- not that the photographer might have an accent.
We had Alberto for our epics and he has no accent at all. We had Sam and Gio for the wedding, they have a bit of an accent, but they don't say much, so it doesn't tmatter.

I booked with them recently as well but knew that Eric was the only problem (and I'm asian!). He was a great guy though, so I just tried to pay attention as best as I could.

I was looking through the albums and I picked one that I liked and mentioned it to FI. When Eric sat down with us, he told me only one team was available on my date - Sam's. So I asked Eric which album did Sam do and he pointed to the one I picked! We booked right there.

Re: DUET advise!

we used Jay's team
we were able to choose and put it in our contract when booking. If you want someone specific, make sure that you put it in your contract

we did not have any trouble understanding Jay or Matt... and really all you need to understand is basic directions, you aren't really holding full conversations with them...but either way, they were fine to understand.

You can check out my review too...

Re: DUET advise!

I was really unhappy with Duet. I think they completely lacked creativity (my team was Woo and Joseph) and all of my pictures were taken from about 40 ft. away. You think a professional would omit things like lights, kitchen doors, fuse boxes, etc from portraits. My brother used Doug from Patken his pictures were STUNNING. My sister used Lana Rowe, STUNNING as well... mine - crap. JMO and experience. They wow you with quantity, I fell for it, I'd rather have less and better quality. Out of like 2000 pics I can't even pick out 60. There are MUCH better photographers out there, keep looking!

Re: DUET advise!

i think it depends on the photographer

i had woo for my epics did not love all of them but found a few that i liked. did not feel that he was creative...

my friend had Jay's team and they were awesome. i have heard nothing but great things about Jays team so i swtiched teams to Jay. I called the place to make sure no one else on my date had him for their wedding and they said it was fine...so i got Jay on the contract and they faxed me a revised copy...

no barrier problems though...just with the owner Eric

Thanks girls. I am still going to look at artistan and duval but from what I can gather here is that if i go with duet to get Jay's team... right?

I didn't have any problem understanding Eric but my FH kinda has ADD when it comes to these wedding things.

Re: DUET advise!

I have Duet. Alberto's team did our engagement pictures last year. They came out beautiful ( some are in my album). Alberto did not even have the slightest bit of an accent. They are sooo affordable and you get professional pictures with amazing quality! ( Not to mention how gorgeous their videos are!!!)

I'm a Duet bride...and I'm so excited to work with them! I've always admired their work from the pictures that have been posted on this site. They're just my style...and their style might not be for everybody.

My advice is...don't always just go by reviews or opinions of brides on this board. Meet with all the photographers you're interested in, and get a feel for them and really check out their work. I get caught up in the reviews here myself and I think I've made some hasty decisions (I hope they work out!!)...there's never a rush so go for a lot of appointments and go with your gut!!
