Duet Brides - need your help

Duet Brides - need your help

I recently booked Duet because I absolutely love their work and feel that they will be very easy to work with. At the bottom of the contract there is wording saying '10% tip/service fee.' It isn't included in the total $ of the contract, but it is written into the contract. This didn't strike me as odd when I signed the contract, but the more I think about it, the more I wonder about it.

Does anyone else have this in their contract? I thought a tip is meant to be discretionary - you tip them if you are happy with their work - but putting it into the contract kind of makes it seem mandatory. Would you read it this way, and is this unusual?

Based on all of the positive Duet reviews on LIW, I think I will be very satisfied with their work, but I just think this is odd.

I think that the tip is entirely up to you. The tax is already included so that is taken care of. I wouldn't worry about it.

I have that on my contract too- and it says opitional. I think they do it as a reminder that gratuity is not included in the price. Tip what you feel comfortable doing. 10% is 250 of our contract but I was planning on giving each photographer 100.

its in our contract too..
We're having 2 photographers and a videographer...would we just give the tip to one of them and have them divide it up?

Yep. Did any of you guys get the engagement shoot? We can't decide if we should do a beach one or a fall one.

I asked them about that and they said that 10% is just a suggestiona d we should tip whateer we feel is appropriate. They also said it was a good idea to tip half at the wedding and half when you get your albums because some of the second tip will go to the people editing your video and album, not just the photographer.

I think I am doing my engagement shoot next July or August. I think we are going to do it in the city. Either in Central Park or maybe on my friend's rooftop which has views of the Empire State Bldg.

We both live in NYC and since the reception is on LI, I thought having the engagement shoot in the city would be nice. But who knows, I am constantly changing my mind....

I feel like I have too much time to plan...Next October feels so far away.

That's a nice idea. I think we might wait for the fall foliage since we are nature freaks. I know, even May seems so far away. I WANT TO PUT ON MY PRETTY DRESS!

OK, good to know that they consider the 10% tip voluntary. It makes a lot of sense to give part of the tip after the albums are rec'd. I didn't know that they give some of the tips to the people helping with the albums. Thanks for this advice!

Do you tip when they arrive to take pics. or at the end of the day?

Its up to you as far as how much you tip... We gave them a tip on our wedding day and are going to take care of them after we get all of our stuff....

(moms are still working on their albums!)

We did the engagement shoot... I HIGHLY recommend it... You get shots you would never dream of getting..!
