OK, so I am seriously doubting my choice of photographers (not Duet). I am only satisfied with about 20% of my engagement proofs. I think I jumped the gun and booked her too quickly. It seems as if every Duet proof I see I absolutely love and I'm really picky about pics.
Can you tell me why you picked Duet? What were your options for packages etc.? What were their prices?
Please FM me.
I'm thinking about calling them. I don't even know if they have my date available. I'm not an indecisive person so when I have my doubts it's not a good sign. Problem is I'll lose my $600 deposit. I never freak out over these things but I am with this.

I agree, I liked the fact that Eric was sincere. I absolutely fell in love with the 3 albums he showed us, but the final straw was the video he showed us. It took all the power in me not to cry, because it was so beautiful. Im not sure about the pricing because since I booked, I've heard from other brides that prices have gone up.

Thank you all for your input. I made an appointment for this afternoon.
Now, any advice on how I should tell my first photographer if I decide to go with Duet?

What about your Epics didn't you like? Were they blurry? Over exposed? This is why photographers take so many pictures because not ALL of them are going to be perfect. How many Epics did your photographer take? Is it worth taking a 600 dollar loss? If your photographer is going to be taking 500 pictures and 20 percent come out great that's 100 perfect pictures! Just a different way to look at it.

Re: Duet brides please help.
I've done amateur photography from high school through college (developed and printed countless rolls of film) and, trust me the pictures should have been much better if she is a professional photographer. She took one roll of film that day but only sent me 15 shots and of those 15 there were 10 that either had a problem with them (flagpole in the background that looks like the flag is sitting on top of my head) or they could have been framed better, taking from a much more interesting angle or the sign behind us could have been blurred out by correctly using depth of field.
She is only providing us with 300 proofs for the day, one photographer, no video, one album, no parent albums and a fairly small package (everything is a la carte). Using that ratio and with a must have shot list of 71 pictures I won't get all of the shots I want for my album. When I priced out everything compared to Duet she is expensive. While Duet is about the same ballpark figure they offer so many more proofs and TWO photographers.
Sorry this is so long. Photography is so important to me I have to change. Even if I have to eat mac and cheese and not buy clothes to eat the $600 I will. Its my wedding photos right?

I would listen to yourself and go with what will make you feel better. In the long run, $600 is nothing compared to stress and upsetment about your wedding pictures. You may even be able to get some of that money back by letting her know you were very disappointed in her e-pics.
Also, this is coming from someone who really doesn't throw around money, if that helps. I'm pretty stingy.
I love working with Duet and if you went with the basic package you will probably end up saving that 600 in the long run.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. It's so important to me to have great pics for the rest of my life than $600. Yes, I'm a frugal coupon cutting queen and stingy about money but the money here is secondary.
Thanks ladies.

Re: Duet brides please help.
I'm not a DUET bride (ssh), but I want to tell you that if you don't like your photographer's work, then DROP HER. I think it's better for you to loose the $600 then to potentially loose pictures of one of the most important days of your life. When it's all said and done, what will you have to remind you of your wedding? Your FH, yes! But your family and friends are going to want to look at your album ans video. Please don't go with someone that you are not sure about.
Check with Duet and see if they have your date. I hope that they do. If not, then look for other photographers. I booked with Patken, but there are so many other great photographers in LI.

Re: Duet brides please help.
Ladies,
Thank you for all of your encouraging words and especially to Chris and Jenn for FMing me back and forth and to all of the others
Yes, my intuition is WAY up and isn't that why we have it as women?
Wow, what a day. I never change major things but something in my gut is bothering me.
I am soooooo picky when it comes to photography and have looked at so many of their proofs and loved them.
I'll keep you posted on what I decide.
Again, thank you very much. If anyone else has a story for me please FM me.

I just read an article about 10 mins ago in Bride's magazine...it was tips from professionals...it said:
'On your wedding day, your closest relationship will be with your photographer. Make sure you love your phtographer as a person as well as their photographic style...'
I thinj you may be having a problem with both......SWITCH....ease your mind.....

Re: Duet brides please help.
I booked Duet after seeing their albums and video. I really liked the coffee table book type of albums and I liked the fact that with digital pictures, a lot of editing can be done.
I thought Eric and Nicole were really nice and accommodating. I went to their 5th avenue office and sat there watching wedding videos for like an hour - and I started crying, they were so good!
