Duet Question- Language Barrier?

Hi girls-
Sorry to crash your board. I have a question that I think you would be able to answer better.

We are about to book Duet for photo and video and are aware of the language barrier. The accent is the only thing that is making us hesitant. Would you guys be able to recommend a photographer team from Duet that is able to communicate better then their coworkers?

Thanks...

Re: Duet Question- Language Barrier?

That was the reason we did not book them- My FH family is Portugese and theres a barrier already. We just thought it would be too much. When we met with Duet I could not understand what the guy was saying. I think he noticed because he stopped talking and just wrote on paper, which was worse since he could not write english. Even though the pictures were beautiful, we just did not feel comfortable.

Re: Duet Question- Language Barrier?

From what I've heard Eric is the only one who is really difficult to understand. The photographers don't have as strong of an accent as him.

That is good to know... I have the same problem as Shannon. My FH's family is Italian so there is a barreir already but they will not be in the wedding party. I think it will be ok. So- I have to make sure I do not get Eric... how is Chalie's & Hong's Accent?

I had the same experience. The pics were really nice but we didn't understand the guy during our initial meeting so we decided to look elsewhere.

Re: Duet Question- Language Barrier?

Honestly, I just did my e-pics with Woo and it was fine. Yes they have an accent, but there was nothing that we did not understand when he was speaking.

As far as the Wedding, I hired a DOC who has worked with Duet plenty of times and she will be there to deal with it anyway.

Re: Duet Question- Language Barrier?

I used Duet for photo and video and I didnt have a problem with the accent/language. I had to say 'what?' a couple of times but they understood me perfectly.

Re: Duet Question- Language Barrier?

I didn't have a problem w/ Jay at all.

The guy you meet with is not the photographer and he even said to us that his english was not that good but that his teams were fine.

There work is so beautiful.

Re: Duet Question- Language Barrier?

I used Jay's team for my wedding and I didn't have any problem with his accent or any member of his team. Honestly all they say is 'smile' 'look here' 'look there' 'kiss' and that's about it. I had a sit down meeting with Jay and I think he speaks English just fine. They do beautiful work! Don't hesitate!

our family is Polish so as you said the language barrier already exists but we had Scott and Sam and had no problems, they were great and made us laugh

Re: Duet Question- Language Barrier?

Eric is abit harder to understand but we have Alberto as the photographer and he speaks pretty good English. Same with Jay and the other teams.

It's not a huge deal 'cus you're not really communicating that much with them anyway. My FH is an Italian/German American and he has no problem whatsoever understanding Eric or Jay and no qualms at all about hiring any of the fantastic Duet teams. :)
