Okay ladies. Slight dilemma. Met with Fine-Art yesterday. Met with Duet last week. This probably should be a no-brainer, but here's my problem.
I loved Duet from the second I looked at their photos on their website. My parents were somewhat iffy about them so I agreed to go to other photogs. We went to Fine-Art yesterday, and the package we were getting from Fine-Art was $1500 more than Duet (and the only real difference was that we were getting 1000 proofs printed from Fine-Art as opposed to 500 from Duet). I think my parents were happier at Fine-Art. Maybe they just think Duet is too good to be true?
My mom just said she's concerned about Duet - she doesn't want the company to disappear overnight (e.g. they've only been around for 10 years, Fine-Art has been around for 30 years). I totally understand why she's on the fence, but $1500 is a lot of money.
Thoughts????? I need you!

Well, my parents are contributing to about 20% of the total cost of the wedding, but told us we could use the money as we saw fit. I did like Fine-Art's work, but I guess I'm just not seeing the reason why I should spend $1500 more. I dunno - so confused! ughhhhhh

we booked with Duet, honestly they are the vendor i am looking forward to using most. We met with 5 photographers and they were the least expensive but threw in the most stuff. So many people have booked with them and have nothing to say but great things. Go with your gut!

honestly, go with duet!!!! I understand why your mom would be concerned BUTT I dont think she should be. They have not had problems with brides as far as I know. 1500 extra is too much to spend on a place you dont even like that much better.

$1500 is a lot of money and could be used on so many other things that you need for the wedding. I would definitly go with Duet!!!

I would be more worried about fine-art disappearing than duet. Duet is a very busy place...they are booked most dates through 2011.
I'm using Patken but I personally think that Duet is more reputable than F-A. Why do your parents think Duet might disappear overnight? There seems to be way more girls using Duet on this site than F-A. I met with Duet and definitely liked their work.. I never met with F-A though.
I would go with Duet.

i met with F-A. While we were there, FH went to pick up an albums that were on the table to look through them and the guy yelled at him and told he he shouldnt look at them till hes told to look at them.

I think it's really b/c F-A has a reputation on the better business bureau and they've been around for 30 years. Duet doesn't have a BBB page and they've only been around for 10 years. What can I say? They're traditionalists! I'm 95% sure I'm going to book Duet now.

WHAT?! That's absolutely ridiculous! I just told my FH that story and he said he would have walked out if it happened to him. That's reason enough for me to book with Duet lol.

I am beyond ecstatic with Duet. Everything with them has been easy. They respond quickly to any calls or emails. My epics were amazing and got me so excited to see my wedding pics and they did not disappoint. My video was great (got the basic cause it didnt matter to me) and was above any expectations. My pics are incredible. I have been slacking on my album so I cant comment on that but the only reason its not done its because I havent had the time to decide on 60 photos out of over 2K.
Honestly I cant say a bad or even ok thing about them......they went above and beyond any expectations I had. My far my favorite vendor

duet's not going anywhere! pick the one YOU like most! they are going to be the photos that YOU are going to be looking at and have to be happy with for the rest of your life
eta duet gives you a disc with all of your photos and you can totally print 500 more by yourself for wayyyyyy less than $1500

Go with duet. Like everyone said, you can use that money for other aspects of your wedding. And 10yrs isn't soo young. It's not like Duet has been around for 2 years. If that were the case, I wouldn't have booked with them! Good luck!!

Duet has multiple photographers and they book up years in advance. I would really doubt they are disappearing considering how popular they are. I would let your mother know that. Sounds like you are happier with Duet and the price is better...so I would go with them

1. i think its pretty good that they dont have a BBB site this means that no one so far has had a problem with Duet.
2. Duet is probably one of the most popular vendors on LIW.
3. they have 2 offices one on LI and one in NYC
4. they have the best prices and all your proofs become yours so you can always take that disc and print your own photos at Walgreens, CVS for a heck of a lot of money.

We looked @ both and I thought their styles were a bit different so I think you should base it on which photos you like better. I thought FA was way overpriced and I really doubt you will have to worry about Duet leaving the business bc I think they are the most popular right now. ETA - I wasn't sure about personalities there either if you know what I mean

Duet alllll the way. We used them and they were phenomanl. They aren't going anywhere!! We actually just picked up our proofs!!

I dont know much about either one, but I know I read a few reviews that were not overly thrilled with F-A. Everyone I hear LOVES Duet though. Just from what I have heard!
