I wanted to relay our experience with Duet for those brides deciding which photographer to use. While we were were very happy with the finished product (album and DVD), it was a very difficult road to get what we wanted after the wedding. Prior to meeting with them after our wedding, I spent a lot of time picking proofs and what order they should be in. When we received our sample digital album however, the pictures were in a totally different order and completely different than what we requested. It took a very long time to finally get what we wanted and, at times, it was frustrating because it felt like my husband and I were doing a lot of the work that Duet should have been doing. If the miscommunications were the result of language barriers, they made no effort to try to mitigate that. On the positive side, we were happy with the finished product and the price could not be beat. I just was amazed by all the glowing reviews for Duet--it seems strange to me that not one person had a negative or remotely similar experience to us.

Honestly, this is the first even semi-negative review of Duet I've ever read.
Did you give them really specific instructions (written included) on how you wanted your album laid out?
Have you tried to work things out with them? what was their response?
When I booked them they were very accomodating since we wanted to change the package around a lot. Eric gave me everything I wanted. No parent albums and bumped ours up to a bigger library album.
But you did say you were happy with the finished product. Picking out an album is a lot of work. Had the photographers made judgement calls as to the lay out do you think you would have been as happy?

We met with Duet for a long time to explain what we wanted and our requests were COMPLETELY disregarded. We then provided them with several sets of written instructions (back and forth) until we finally got what wanted. I just find it so strange that not one person has written anything even semi-negative about them. I feel a little about about writing this too--they are very nice people. I just thought people should be aware of potential problems after the wedding.

As with every vendor I think it's really important to write the not so great reviews as well as the raves. Some people just keep their mouth shut for some unknown reason. As long as a review is unbiased and true I think we should post them good or bad. Sorry for your experience. Thank goodness you are at least satisfied with the end result.

to be honest, I wasn't very crazy about Duet because of their pricing policies... I didnt understand how I could be quoted a price on a sat and then be told that the price would then rise that following monday... it just didn't make me feel too comfortable... I also had a hard time with the language barrier... But their work is beautiful, and Im sure all the brides that choose them will be very happy with their work...

same here, I think a bride wanted more photojournalist shots than she received, or something along those lines. They seem to be great so far, sorry about your problem with them, at least the final product was great!

It's very important to hear good things and not-so-good things about vendors.
I'm sorry that you had some problems with them during your wedding preparations, but I'm glad you were satisfied with their final product.
And like you said, their prices can't be beat!
ETA: maybe you should post this on the Official DUET board. That way new brides can get both sides of the story with DUET.
