Is it: 'Two thousand five' or 'Two thousand and five' ???
Question 2: Is it OK to use traditional invitation wording (e.g., Mr. and Mrs. parents of bride request...) when FH and I are paying for the wedding? Will people be confused? Do I really care what people think?
TIA

Re: dumb invitation questions
I used Two Thousand and Five. And No, its not wrong to do that( the parents).
Me and FH were torn, my mom 'leant' us about half of the wedding and gave a substaintial gift, but no one else but us contributed after, so we didnt know how to acknowledge her and no one else..lol.
She decided for us and said have just our names ( me and FH) and thats what we did, but I know people who put the parents name like you wrote and they paid alone for the wedding.

Re: dumb invitation questions
i'm using two thousand and five
How does FH parents feel about not being named on the invitation?
FH and I are paying for our wedding and we are going to use:
Laura xxx daughter of mr. and mrs. so and so
and
Richard xxx son of mr. and mrs. so and so

Re: dumb invitation questions
My parents are paying for part of the wedding(the other half of the money I would have used for my wedding, they gave me for my condo three years ago) and we are paying for the rest. His mom is giving us a substantial gift after the wedding. But FH dad is deceased and he really doesn't like his stepdad so we are just putting our names and 'together with our parents'. This made everyone happy and no confusion since FH has a different last name.

Re: dumb invitation questions
Let me just echo what has already been said:
- and -
You can do whatever you want - as long as it is what you want and not what someone else is telling you to do
As LP says - 'My Day, My Way!'

Re: dumb invitation questions
This leads to yet another question...will invitation printers balk at using 'Ms.' on the invite?
Here's a longer version of my wannabe invite:
Mr. and Mrs. bride's parents request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter lilac wine to Mr. lilacwine's FH son of Ms. FMIL
the catch is that Ms. FMIL is divorced from FFIL, FFIL is out of the picture (although he may be invited to the wedding) and FMIL always and only goes by 'Ms.'
Thanks for all of your input!

Re: dumb invitation questions
I don't see why you can't say Ms.- its your invitation- I would do what would make her the most comfortable.

Re: dumb invitation questions
My Dad is giving us a small gift (retired and disabled, I didn't expect anything and feel bad but he wants to) towards the wedding and FFIL is a general kitchen contractor and picked up half of the costs of our new kitchen (I posted picks a while ago) as a wedding present but it's a HUGE present so we are doing
'Together with our parents'
Also that's all that can fit on my invite if I also want the certain layout I picked.
