dumb question.

dumb question.

When you are 16 weeks - are you technically 4 months pregnant?

In other words...when counting 'pregnancy months' do you go by the calendar date - or by every 4 weeks?

My last period was Dec. 3rd...so will I be four months pregnant on April 3rd...or when I hit the end of my 16th week...

do I make any sense?

You make sense but there is no easy answer. If 16 weeks was four months, then at 40 weeks you'd be ten months. So that never made much sense to me. When people asked who aren't used to hearing weeks, I'd generally tell them my due date to avoid the question.

We're due around the same time--I'll be 16 weeks on Monday, so when people ask, I usually just say the weeks or 'I'm IN the 4th month.' My last period was 11/29, so I've been thinking after 3/29, I'll be 4 months or IN the 5th month. It is confusing!!

Re: dumb question.

You ARE pregnant for 10 months.
Weeks 1-4 = 1st mo,
5-8 = 2nd mo,
9-13 = 3rd mo,
14-17 = 4th mo.
So, yes, at 16 weeks you are 4 mo's pregnant.

Except you aren't pregnant for 10 months -- 10 months is since your last period. You don't conceive until week 2. So confusing.
