Dumb question about guaranteed minimum

Dumb question about guaranteed minimum

Hi Girls!

My sister stressed the importance to me about getting the minimum amount of people down when I went to book my RH. I have no idea why.

Let's say that I am paying $100 pp before tax. My minimum is 140. I am inviting 192.

If every single person shows up, what exactly am I paying?

If the additional 52 people attend do I pay $5200+ for them??

TIA

Yes, that is correct. What I think she is referring to is that you don't want to not make your minimum. Say your minimum is the same and you're inviting the same but only 130 show. You still have to pay for 140.

The minimum is the exactly that the minimum amount of people you pay for. Say you invited 192 and guaranteed 100 and only 90 people come you still have to pay for 100 people.

If 192 people show up then you pay for 192.

you are paying for 140 people at the very min. so if 130 show, you are still paying for 140.

however you pay for every head over 140 too. so if 150 so up, you are paying for 150.

you dont want to make the minimum TOO low though, if you 'know' you will have at least 150 people you dont necessarily want a minimum of 100 or 75 ... because they might come down on the pp price if you raise your minimum.

you really want to find a balance

also, kids usually pay half-price (if they are at or below a certain age which varies from RH to RH) ONLY if you meet your minimum.

So, if you have 10 kids below the age cut-off, you will only pay for 5 people at the full 'adult' price

That is exactly what we did -- our minimum is 75 (it was impossibly to go under that, most places wanted $100 and we negotiated it down this far because we are using the temple's RH and FH's parents are members), and we expect to have 75-80 max. But we expect to have 5 kids, and they are I think half price, so even if we go over our minimum we can count those go-overs as the kids and we don't really add to much more!

I find it is easier in general to sort of know who is coming anyway when the wedding is going to be small. We only can't count on certain elderly relatives, so in the end that may influence the number a touch, but we also have a few B-listers who can fill in for that stuff.
