How does it work when you block rooms at a hotel? Like if I block 10 rooms and say only 6 get taken what happens with the other 4? DO we have to pay for the ones that dont get booked?

I think each hotel may differ. The hotel I spoke to said they do not hold it against you

Some hotels make you pay for it...some hotels don't...you'd have to ask them when you block the rooms...

Re: Dumb question but....
some place have a limit on how many you can block ... my hotel only let me block 15 they said they will block more after those are booked ... also hilton gives a deal if you sign that a certain amount of rooms are book it will be cheaper but then you are responsible for them ...

Yeah you aren't responsible for the rooms.

Re: Dumb question but....
Here are a couple old posts I found that may help you...
there are some girls that signed contracts where they were partly responsible for unbooked rooms..or for rooms that guests booked but later canceled or didn't show up
Just to be sure..I'd check with the hotel and read the contract very carefully

Re: Dumb question but....
Ah! so glad you asked...I just finished booking two hotels... here is what I was told. I booked a total of 40 rooms...20 in one hotel and 20 in another (same management but diff. rates..I figured I would give my guests the option)...you dont pay anything! You give the manager ur last name and ur FH last name so when people call to reserve they say they are reserving a room under the Smith/Jones wedding (for example)..and they get the discounted rate. I was told that the guest may book up to 3 weeks before my wedding...after that the rooms get released and they may rent them out to other people. So my guest have up to June 23rd to book a room...if they dont they get released...and I pay NOTHING...they will mail you a contract in the mail...but you dont pay anything to book and you pay nothing if a certain amount of rooms dont get booked either. HTH..FM if you have questions..
