When you block hotel rooms for OOT guest do you have to pay for the rooms or do your guest? I dont have it in my budget to pay for a wedding and hotel rooms. How do you go about this?

I don't know if it's different but with ours all it was is a reservation. Nothing off your back just to make sure your guests have some rooms they can book.

It depends on the hotel. I don't have to pay for the hotel rooms not booked at my hotel. I've seen some other girls on here that do. That's one of the questions you should be asking when you make an appt. to meet the sales manager.

Say that you need to block. . .20 rooms. Most places make you guarantee that you'll get your guests to use at least 75% of those rooms (so about 15 rooms in this scenario). Your guests pay for their own lodging; however, if you get less than 75% of your blocked rooms booked, then you have to pay the difference. (So let's say that you only have 13 rooms booked by guests--you'll have to pay for 2 more yourself, even if nobody stays in them, to fulfill the 75% guarantee.)
Does that make sense to you now? Hope that I helped.
Speaking of which, I have to e-mail my girl about my rooms. . .

Same and I don't have to guarantee a single booking.

O MY.. I read that you did have it in your budget but now i see that you wrote you dont have it in the budget. Sorry about that.. sometimes I have a bad tendency to skim read things! oopsy.
I was thinking WOW.. that's crazy and it would be sooo awesome if I had money like that.. but we are struggeling to pay all that we have to pay now.
In that case... you definately do not have to pay all that for everyone. Usually I would think it's understood that they pay for themselves. At least thats what I believe.

Like other ladies said, it depends on the Hotel. However, just because they have a guarantee policy which would make you pick up rooms not booked below the guarantee, doesn't mean that they won't waive that. My friend works in the industry and got the guarantee waived for us. It also helps if you stay at the hotel. Some will remove the guarantee if you are staying there.
HTH!

They pay for their own rooms, you just block rooms at a special lowered rate for them, this way they are all in one hotel and saving some money. Sometimes hotels require a guarantee, but that means you pay for a % of the rooms if they are not booked. If they are booked then you have no financial obligation.
