dumb question re: dance lessons

Hi ladies,
My fiance and I start dance lessons tomorrow. What do we wear? I'm thinking gym-like clothes, but should I learn to dance our first dance song in my heels? What'd you guys do? TIA!

I didn't start wearing my heels til we got closer to the wedding (last night, actually). I will wear them at our 2-hour lesson tomorrow, also, and our final lesson on Tuesday night.

you mean any pair of heels, not your wedding shoes right? I personally didn't wear my actual wedding shoes because they would have been destroyed for how much we stepped on each others feet... I'd say wear a pair of heels of similar height... Good luck!

I wore heels right from the start. That's what told me b/c heels makes you stand straigher and better and you can get used to doing hte moves on them...other then that i don't htink it matters what you wear...

Thank you everyone for getting back to me. I'm looking forward to the lessons. My FH is actually the one who pushed for the lessons -- he says I have to learn how to let him lead.

Your FH sounds like mine! And he is still telling me I need to let him lead, to this day, even after months of lessons

We're doing lessons with John from Ballroom Dance Long Island. I'm pretty sure he's a LIW vendor.

We have our first 1-hour lesson in Westbury tomorrow. I'm glad to hear such good things about him -- I'm a little nervous! I hope we don't make fools of ourselves!!

That's a very good point. I was thinking my wedding shoes, but you're right -- they'll be ruined. Thank you SO much.

We're taking lessons too -- at Arthur Murray in Bay Shore. Our instructor is Joel and he's been great. I wore my heels while we practiced our first dance and then took them off so they won't get ruined.

FH is sitting right next to me and after I read your post, I said to him:

'aww someone is having their first lesson with John tomorrow- I wish WE were having our first lesson with John tomorrow!'

We used him and he was AMAZING!!! Definitely one of the most fun parts of the wedding planning!!! Enjoy it and don't forget to practice

OH! And tell him Queen Bean says hi- he will know who I am

He says hi and that he's been meaning to call you.
